Re: MN member checking in!

Hmmm I was driving... At least you have my gun now, give it your magic touch lol. I'll be up Friday night ready to load ammo and have a beer or two

Marty you should'a sent those growlers along with me I could have filled them up this week. That 1450 yard range sounds fun.

Re: MN member checking in!

Austan, Marty says next weekend...? Pack some ammo I'll be up Friday evening, I have class until 4:30 at the latest so sometime after then. What time you coming over?

Re: MN member checking in!

we'll try 1450 someday, I'll have to talk to some neighbors and get things lined up.

Maybe after Eau Claire we'll come home and burn up the rest of the ammo at 1000 again if there's time.

Re: MN member checking in!

Huge thanks to Marty, I had a great time with you and Austan at the match in E.C. It has been proven again Marty's rifles SHOOT and shoot well. Great shooting guy's. Thanks again Marty for working on my Salvage. That's a nice looking case sitting here on my desk. I think it will be fun this winter. Let me know how she shoots if you get a chance to mess with it.

Garrett.

Re: MN member checking in!

The "VIOLATOR" is a 19" fluited barrel .223 Ackley built for the barrel nut brothers from free junk parts.

75 gr A-Max
RL15 powder

26.5 gr = 2940 FPS... just right
27 gr = 3020 FPS, to stiff of load

I just had to see what the short barrel would do.

It's a 1 in 9 twist Rem barrel cut down and re-threaded, re-chambered to fit on a loaner Savage, I wanted some thing to fire form .223 AI brass without running it through my good barrel. Accuracy with the 75 gr A-Max is only so-so, but the 55 gr bullets seam to fly through a ragged hole. I think it would be verry good with 69 SMK's, the 75's are just a bit to heavy for the Rem barrel to spin.

Re: MN member checking in!

It's been 4 days Chris, and we still don't know what your'e getting. TELL US!!!

Marty I'm thinking on fashioning a scabbard from old canvas for the Gator/violator combo. should be fitting.lol It did get me going on rebarreling my hunting rifle to a nice stout med/heavy barrel. The fit, feel, and balance on that violator is perfect.

Re: MN member checking in!

Ever notice how the best things always cost the least. We could have spent countless hours figureing things out and bought lots of parts.... or we could just use what Olaf is draging around the shop and MaGyver something togather.

Re: MN member checking in!

hehehe....

From what I've heard, everyone but Noah has gotten there crap together, and have there rifles dialed in and shooting well....

I'm going to have to kick his arse in gear...school smool....

Re: MN member checking in!

nah, after this semester is over (Dec) he'll have one left.....They kicked him off the short bus last year...not totally sure why but something about improperly displaying himself...I don't know....

Re: MN member checking in!

Waiting on the action to show from Badger, hoping this week... Also waiting on a 2.0 AICS in FDE...

Probably gonna shoot P-town with my .223AI at least the first round or two.

Will have a new scope on whatever I am shooting though, something in the 3-15 power that I just so happen to be a dealer for now.

What do you guys think?

Re: MN member checking in!

Garrett,
your rifle is all ready for the matches. I re chambered and put your barrel on today, threaded 5/8-24 for a brake or suppressor and made a thread cap. Mounted the Nightforce and shot some 100 yd groups.

26.2 - 26.5 gr of RL 15 depending on brass and a 75 GR A-Max makes 5 shot bugholes

Now to get someone elses rifle done....

Re: MN member checking in!

Sounds like it should be a good shooter Marty. I will be up in two weekends hopefully, maybe we can get that reloading room of yours going. Don't forget to get your gun together, Heh the time is ticking away.

Re: MN member checking in!

a few of us should get togather one of these days out here and shoot 1000+ if we can get some decent weather and time off

looking forward to the Princeton matches

Re: MN member checking in!

Be about time the mud-ducks have to drive a little...they're like a brother in law that always needs gas money but always has beer.LOL
