Without massacres of small children, there is no (or very little) extreme sensationalism to motivate Joe/Jane Average to ban guns.
I've also noticed that when police shoot someone, noone blames the gun....

The mental picture that created can never be erased, but it can be covered up with copious amounts of alcohol. I can tell already that I am calling in sick tomorrow.
