Nassau and/or Suffolk Counties, I assume, as both Brooklyn and Queens (both part of the Long Island land mass) are 2 of the 5 boroughs of NYC.
It's funny. This brought back a childhood memory. I must have been in the 2nd grade. The School system's music teacher (she would float between the three elementary schools during the week) taught us how to sing the Boer War song, "Marching to Pretoria" but, of course, in English and without any context as to its primary political intent. It was just a "cool/rythmic" marching song to sing.
Of course, they'd never allow the song to be taught in today's "woke" culture. I recall this poor young girl a grade above me (3rd grade) named "Vicki." After our learning that song (music class combined several grades into one session), the kids would tease her incessantly at recess. They'd form a single file "conga" type line, linking arms to shoulders lengthwise and chase after her in marching step, singing in unison, "♫♪ We are marching to Victoria! ♪♫"
She (the music teacher) also taught us the German "Wandersman" song, again, in English.
