Maggie’s Motivational Pic Thread v2.0 - - New Rules - See Post #1

Maybe you missed it. It’s a “passing” lane. You ain’t passing, you need to be moving to the right lane. How hard is that to understand?
I can always tell when someone was taught to drive by their mother. Women have no clue about the left lane, no matter how many times you explain it to them. They just assume that because they are doing the speed limit, or nearly the speed limit, they are right. If we want to stop left lane campers, we need to start a social media campaign that declares the right lane belongs to the patriarchy, and women and soft men will stay in it for spite.

Lol, just being put on a lift? The car at the body shop at least was getting some major work done to it

What dealer did you work at? I used to be a Benz tech and worked at several across the country
Metro Atl. These were two post in ground lifts. It was always attributed to a poorly set lift and letting it down too fast. Started to vibrate and inattention. The arms would slip and BOOM!
I worked there for a decade in the 80's then got out of the business.

Texas law says we don't have to show our LTC, but I still do anyway. The officer instantly knows you're not a felon. Every time "Do you have your firearm with you?"

He can see both my hands and I point straight down at my waist and say "It is in a holster right there."

Almost every time, the reply is "Good, if you don't pull yours, I won't pull mine."

Yes sir.

I was leaving my farm years ago (before I lived on it). A trooper pulled me over for a tail light out on my trailer. That same pistol conversation occurred. And then he said "Are you a LaRue Tactical fan?" I pointed at the LR-308 that was muzzle down, and leaning on the passenger seat. I said "that's just a DPMS, much more affordable than a LaRue. It does a fine job of killing hogs in the sounders." He said "I get it, nothing wrong with that. I'll be back with a warning."
You do know when he pulls you over and runs your plate he knows you have a LTC before he walks up to your window?

Of COURSE, I know who Captain Kangaroo is....watched him, and Mr. Greenjeans, and moose, and.....grew up with him....BUT, my knees don't hurt. It's my back, neck, wrist.....well, you get the picture.

I started taking this new approach to driving about 5 years ago....it has turned a stressful item into a nothing burger.

I never drive over the speed limit anymore. Im not engaging in road rage. I treat every cutoff, line jumper, and rude person as a friend and/or family member. I dont care about saving 2 minutes on a 30 minunte trip. I dont plot, think about, worry, or even consider my place in line. I just try to be kind on the road like everyone is a close family member. I dont waste energy on that shit anymore, I just dont care. If people fuck up, I just accept they are human.

I promise you, if you take this approach, driving can become a non-stresser. I just leave 5 minutes early and dont care anymore. Somebody thinks I screwed up, I just give them a friendly sorry wave.

I had to change something, because I was on a path to shooting every motherfucker on the road!!! It used to drive me nuts!!!

Ive found other items to stress about.

Drive in the left lane, I dont care anymore, we will all arrive at our destination, maybe 1-2 minutes slower.

I just accept, that somebody loves that other person in that other car, and it is now partly my job to make sure they arrive to their loved ones safely.

I think about all the anger I carried with driving.....its 100% gone! Such a stupid waste of energy.
Good for you. I admire you for that. I wish I could do that too........I'm just not there yet. I need time to change.

I'm there till someone deliberately does something stupid like pull in front of me to turn immediately or pulls out in front of me when there's 1/4mi behind me clear of traffic.

Most of the stupidity I see on the roads doesn't affect me, but that doesn't mean I don't notice it

I bet there is no verse in the Quran about what will happen when they are in battle and suddenly the sky begins farting. 😂

"When thou are engaged in battle with the forces of the infidels, and suddenly the infidels unleash their flatulent dragons, thou art finished, for no armor or faith thou possess will shield thee from thy infidel dragons' flatulence. All warriors even the mightiest will perish when one flies past. Also be warned thy infidels ride upon cursed hippos made of steel whose hideously long snouts level entire temples with one exhalation of fire..."

The typical NJ Trooper is only afraid of two things... 1) Lawyers; and 2) Feds that can really get them into trouble. They think they're smarter than everyone else (or can intimidate them better).

Now, that said, if you show them a reasonable degree of "politeness/respect" etc. they might just let you off, unless they want something from you. That works mostly with traffic stops, as you saw. Won't work for a Search/Arrest warrant or an ERPO. Remember, they don't want you... they want your guns/ammo.
I lived in New Jersey most of my life.

In general, New Jersey police are usually anti-gun and will do everything they can just not process any of your paperwork when it comes to purchasing them.

I had one guy tell me that no civilian should have a gun. So I looked at him. I said ” tell you what, I’m gonna have my attorney take care of all this paperwork.“ it’s amazing how smoothly things went after that….

Yup. Like I said, "Lawyers" and "Feds." The murder of Carol Bowne is a perfect example of the problem.

That said, there are some pockets of NJ where LE is quite "pro-gun" and supportive. And, as it happens, I lived in one of those pockets. Mostly, they are in the Northwest parts of NJ (Warren/Sussex/Hunterdon. Western Morris counties) and a few down shore. I lived in Warren County for over 25 years. And my municipal CLEO was fantastic and encouraging. He would always "officially" claim the standard "30 day turnaround" for the paperwork. But my initial FPID and set of P2Ps took only 23 of those 30 days. And that's even including the trip through the "County Adjuster's office for the Mental health check, and the NJSP fingerprinting. After that, anytime I needed a new set of P2Ps, it would be only 2 weeks to turn around.

I think the closer you get to the inner cities in NJ (Newark, Camden, New Brunswick, Patterson, etc. ) the more "anti-gun" it gets.
