My PST showed up today. I had ordered the 4-16 Mrad FFP. Mounted it up as soon as I got home from work.

Turrets- Seem pretty nice. Much more tactile and defined "clicks" compared to my Super Sniper.

Glass- Very nice. I don't have much to compare it to, but it's very clear and crisp for the price.

Reticle- The EBR reticle is much better than the standard mil dont in my opinion, and it doesnt seem too thick on the top range of the magnification.

Illumination- Doesnt really work too awful well. Then again, it's bright and sunny out today, though even on the highest setting, it is not visible. Though I doubt I'll ever need to use it while shooting.

I need to shoot with it, check the tracking and such, and I doubt there will be any issues with that.

I'll try and get some pics, but most of you should know what it looks like.

Re: My first Impressions

Illumination on a magnified optic is for low light situations.

There is absolutely no need for it during daylight unless you are shooting into the shadows at a dark object.

What he said. Illumination on my NF's is not daytime visible either; because it's not supposed to be.

Well, I run a S & B Short Dot 1 - 4 "magnified optic" on one of my carbines and I can say without question that your statement is incorrect.

Semantics and not germane to this conversation.
You are technically correct, but we are speaking of a high magnification optic for precision work.
You are speaking of a CQB optic intended for use from close range to medium distance taht serves double duty as a magnified optic and a red dot sight. It also would work fine with a standard reticle in MOST situations.

Re: My first Impressions

You are correct, but I wanted to point out that a lower powered scope benefits from the illumination, even at 4X in my scope. I will say that I think you meant an illuminated reticle rather than the dot in my Short Dot.

I don't really think it is semantics. I think your statement is more correct starting something like "except for the low powered variable powered scopes.......

At least that works better for me. But hey, this is supposed to be discussion, and I didn't maen to come across harsh.

It's all good!
