My LWRC REPR 18"....first shots fired yesterday and I'm EXTREMELY impressed.

I don't log on much (or haven't in a while since I didn't have a precision rifle), but I changed that a while back. I've had several rifles that I either purchased 'stock' or had custom built. I was never able to get satisfying results from a Remington 700 actioned 5R, .308 in a nice pistol grip chassis, an M1A NM that wouldn't shoot less than 4" groups and my "Tactical Rifles" Para 20" with M852 chamber. (These are the ones with the best "pedigrees", anyway). All had top quality optics, mounts, bipods...all the best accuracy enhancements I could find.. Never could get them shooting with Federal Gold Medal, Black Hills, Surplus M118 & M118LR or my best reloads worked up with the best bullets, and tried & true powders.

List year the VA declared me 100%, I was forced to retire from job of 15 years. I took some of my retirement money and stuck it back. I started reading every single thing I could about POF, LaRue, LWRC...etc, you name it I tried to look for info on it. I had decided to try semi auto after my lack of success with B/A rifles. I finally narrowed it down to LaRue or LWRC. I rally wanted one of Mark's (LaRue) rifles but I might have been better off looking for the Holy Grail. Then a dealer came up with an 18" OD Green LWRC REPR brand spankin' new and I fell head over heels for it. I bought a totally different type of scope than I'd ever used...a Leupold Mark 6 3-18 x 44 FFP with Mil/Mil adjustments set in a LaRue OBR mount. Got a Viking Tactics sling and a LaRue QR Harris Bipod. BEAUTIFUL SETUP!

Yesterday I took her to the range...I've had the rifle for 7-8 months but a series of little medical issues sidelined me for a good bit. Feeling good now so I was READY for yesterday. I shot 65 rounds, all but 5 were Black Hills 168gr Match. The Mil/Mil scope is brand new to me, the adjustments are a bit coarser (y'all know that) and my mind was still calculating 1/4 MOA clicks. Finally I got my brain on track with the conversions that I've been studying. I also got the irons sighted in, the laser boresighter was dead on for a run of the mill cheapie from Amazon.

As I shot, I began to get more and more comfortable with the rifle, the OUTSTANDING Geisele trigger and the Mark 6 scope. Once had left I sat down, relaxed and used one of the zeroing dots on the target for my test target. Shooting off of a picnic table on my bipod with one sandbag and 3 smaller bags of industrial desiccant that make for great rear bags. I fired 10 shots into a 4" x 4" part of the target at 106 yards....I called 3 shots that the bag moved or I slipped up (1 low left and 2 low right)
The group measures .902 center to center at it's widest....I was shooting between heartbeats on 18X...it's been a while too, so I'm desperately out of practice. I have to say that this rifle will shoot MUCH BETTER than I ever will! Not bad for a gimped up old grunt who never sniper trained! I did the familiarization when I served later in the guard, but never went to school. Now I've finally found a GREAT rifle that does exactly what I want and I'm liking the Mark 6 better and better!

After all the disappointments I have had I was SURE glad that it performed. I've got a SureFire SOCOM762 coming for it....just didn't seem right to use my YHM Phantom thread on can on it! It's quiet but a tad HEAVY.

Anybody shooting the SOCOM CAN? I've heard that they're the cat's a$$! Can't wait!

Nice setup! Mine is very similar, I am using a Spuhr canti mount with a T1 offset at 45*. Whats the farthest you have shot so far? Ive only been out to 500 but it was effortless with the gun.

Nice rig. Mine is an OD REPR 20 with a USO SN3 in NF 20 moa rings and a Harris 6-9 BRMS LaRue QD. at times it has been .625 moa out to 400 yards but on average it is not that good. I'm sure the largest hindrance is the operator.

I've only run it to that 106yds...we're a little limited by the way everything is in place at the farm. We've got an old open barn that's the perfect cover. There are several places I can stretch it out. One spot lets me get 800 EASILY and I have overhead cover. Here in the coming months when we have nice weather I'm going to push out to 300-500. I bought some CR 500 12" plates to have for that purpose. I'm curious to see what she does at longer ranges!

I know, RIGHT!! A dealer in the NE had this one and I had it eyeballed for a while...got lucky that no one bought it out from under me. Now you're relegated to cutting a 20" barrel down.

The hindrance usually is me as well...I can tell this rifle will shoot MUCH better than I ever can.
Your setup sounds really sweet, too....especially the USO glass. I really like my Larue/Harris bipod...Mark and his bunch make some great stuff. I remember when I had my FFL/SOT and I would call LaRue, Mark answered most of the time....really good dude there!

I ran 10 175gr SMK's that I loaded for my last bolt gun. They're in some good LC brass under 43.9gr of Varget. The group was about 2".....obviously it didn't like that load. May try some BL-(C)2 and some 3031 with them to see how that'll work. Ramshot TAC is on the list as well. What load are you shooting with the 175's, if I may ask??

Fed primers, varget and rl-15. 41.5 grains of either. Tac would work as well, has the right burn range. It really likes the 150 gr bt-fmj from hornady with 44.5 gr of rl-15. That's my go to critter shooting round for either my repr or my m1a.

That's cool! I'm shooting some some xm80 in my M1A Scout Squad, it really likes that stuff...which is easy on the pocketbook! I want to get some 175gr loads tailored for it just to be able to have a second "go to" round that will do as well as these factory loads. I always liked to use 3031 with my loads for my M1A NM when I had it. The 3031 shot better than ANY other powder/bullet combo in that particular rifle. That doesn't hold true with every single gun I've had but I keep plenty of 3031 around because I can usually work up a load that's accurate and hits a ton down range. Gotta get some more Ramshot TAC, I loaded a few rounds with it then gave the rest I had to my dad when he was shooting an old Husqvarna in .30-'06, that rifle really liked it!

I save my tac for the 68 gr 223 stuff I load. Rl-15 is whats in the xm118lr round the military uses IIRC. I buy it by the 8lb can. Works great in my svt 40 and my garand too.

LOL! Yeah, I had it on backwards when I first took those pictures months back. I had just gotten it in and slapped everything on for some quick pictures. The knob on the bipod mount was hitting the hand stop and just popped it on there for quick pics. When I bore sighted it the next day I leaned into it and it kept going forward! I pulled it off and turned it around and was shaking my head at myself!! I meant to mention it but I forgot when I was writing. I need to take some newer and better pics outside in the natural light (another thing I forgot when I was shooting the other day!

I've used RL-15 off and on quite a bit, I plan to use it along with a few others while working up the 175gr loads. I'm out of 748 though, and I want to give it a shot with 168's and 175's. I need some just to put back for reloading my .223/5.56 62grain stuff for that SHTF scenario.

Good old Reloader-15, it is some very good magic powder for sure! So far I think I have about 146,000 different load combinations I want to try (LOL)! I keep jotting down notes on my iPhone notepad app...everybody's favorite recipe to add to my little collection.

Man, it is definitely a lot of fun at our little backwoods setup. Thanks for the kind words!
