Movie Theater My Octopus Teacher

Welp, that was the best documentary I've seen in a while...

Anyone who has spent the odd hour watching cephalopods cannot help but be amazed. Fish can have beautiful colors and shapes. Their behaviour can be interesting but they strongly tend to fit into narrow slots. Cephalopods seem to look at the world and choose how they will interact. There is just more to there mind.

the story of a man who loved octopuses too much , found dead after he got too close and it ate his face . story at 11 . Almost as funny as the story of that guy that loved grizzlies then one ate him . Timothy Treadwell that was a funny story him and his crazy ass girl friend . which was all video taped live as it happened by his hand and a video camera .

No such thing as a Democrat octopus. They take care of themselves from the moment they hatch till the time they die.

They live solitary lives. Watch what interests them and do as they please accepting responsibility for consequences of their actions.

It's somewhat sad that we have more in common with a boneless creature that has green blood than with half our fellow Americans.

There is no pinnacle with Evolution. It's just a matter of how fit a creature is to its environment, so the creatures that have changed very little over millions and millions of years are among the best adapted. Alligators have been in their present form for many many millions of years, making them very well adapted. Whales, in their current forms, are well adapted to the ocean, but actually returned from the land geologically recently.

It's a constant process.

Very true. Although I would suggest there are degrees. We like to think we’re the end all to be all, but we’re not. We’re busy changing the context for adaptation rather than finding a way to enjoy the blessing we inherited.

Unlike the rest of the species on Earth, we actually have adapted our environment to suit us, not adapted to the environment. That among many other things makes us stand out, but doesn't mean we can't be wiped out by environmental pressure like the 99% of extinct species. The most adaptable species that can adjust to a variety of pressures quickly, is the one that is fittest for long term survival. That's where technology really helps us, and doesn't help the dodos and wooly mammoths. But things could change too rapidly for us to survive long term.

So, how does one watch the full documentary?
I don't want to watch if his octopus friend gets eaten by a shark.

If I went down there everyday, I'd carry. Maybe a Glock with subsonic rounds. It's all fun until a Great White shows up.

Good points. Perhaps that is one of our greatest flaws, the inability to be content. We must orchestrate. Creativity seems like such a gift. Maybe we’re just not wise enough to deploy and consume it within stasis.
