Finally getting around to reloading the 1000 or so fireformed rounds for my .308
Is case lube necessary for neck sizing as it is for full length sizing? If so, is there an easy way to spritz just the necks without getting the entire case slimey and wasting lube?

ETA: Plain ol' RCBS Neck Size Die.

Re: Neck Size: Lube?

Never lubed for my lee collet neck sizer. Never had a problem. I might just try some Dillon lube for shits and giggles but the way the die works there isn't any steal vs brass sliding.

Re: Neck Size: Lube?

No, you don't have to use any on the brass with the Lee Collet die, but then the OP never said he was using one.

I don't use neck lube with my Redding bushing dies with TiN coated bushings, they don't "require" it.
Many dies do....which explains the answer he got.
Lack of lube with some dies can cause problems, using lube with all dies won't hurt anything.

Hi 03psd,I use Imperial die wax for neck sizing. You put it on with your fingers and it wipes off real easy with a rag.I even use it on my carbide bushings, just a habit I have! Pete
