My friends has a gun he is trying to sell me. He says he go tthe gun from someone that is ex military. And on the side of the stock it had something engraved that has been marked out. The stock on the side says made by john plaster and the gun is super heavy. It is a draganov looking stock. and the barrell appears to be floated. The barrel and action say savage 10, and appears to be about a 24" barrell. But I am way off subject. This scope has a mildot reticle, tacticle style turrets, and marks fir every revoloution that it comes up. It sorta looks like a leupold but no markings, and no gold rings. On the ledt side of the scope where side focus are on SF scopes it has a marking. It says 20 x 42. It looks like a well built scope, but it has no markings. I also noticed (this has nothing to do with the scope) it has a canted base, which appears to be about 20 moa. So I figured this might be some kind of older military scope. Anyway thank sin advance for your help.

Re: Need help Identifing a scope

Post a pic if you can, but I'm guessing the package is nothing to special and definitely not anything "older military" like you're guessing. Military has never been into 20x fixed scopes that I know of.

Re: Need help Identifing a scope

How good of a friend is this guy? How much is he asking anyway....????

The more I think about it, the more I'm guessing he's trying to sell you something....like a line of BS.

Mentioning that the former owner was ex-mil, stuff marked out, etc etc. The gun was never used by a serious shooter, ex sniper, special forces, blah blah blah.... no way.

That's the scope. You nailed it. So what do you think that this gun scope combo is worth? </div></div>

Scope can be bought new for $300. Used, figure $250-275 if it's in really good shape. However, I wouldn't want a 20x. I'd want a 16x or 10x.

Stock doubles as a boat anchor, railroad tie, jeep bumper, and battering ram. It's better in those purposes than as a stock, in my opinion. It's big and heavy and, well, lame. Figure you could buy one new for $140.

The savage barreled action is worth $300-400 depending on what it is and condition, i.e. presuming used.

So, if you could "score" this rig for $600, it would be a fair deal. But it wouldn't be a good deal, because I wouldn't want the scope or the stock. Your mileage may vary.

Re: Need help Identifing a scope

he is more of an acquaintance, I really and truly don't think he kows uc about it. His first asking price is 650, but I am sure he will come off of that. He also has another savage 10. I think it is a fp because ofthe 20" barrell. It is brand new, and he wants 350 for it. I really appreciate all of your help.

Re: Need help Identifing a scope

If he has a new 10fp and only wants 350 for it, then that's a good deal. Savage rifles are a lot like fat girls, they ain't very pretty but they'll get the job done!! LOL. You'd be better served with the new 10fp, pick up a good bell and carlson stock, decent rings and base and a 10X super sniper. Just my opinion though.
