Rifle Scopes New high power Nightforce NX8?

So to confirm:

4-32 x 50 F1 - 13.5"- 90 minutes (26.2 MILs) of travel - $2150
2.5-20 x 50 F1 - 12" - 110 minutes (32 MILs) of travel - $1950

Both scopes:
28oz. weight
ED glass - but from what I'm told it's not *quite* ATACR level, but far better than NXS
10m to infinity parallax
Digillum illumination - red & green
Zerostop and Capped windage
Mag ring moves independently (same with the NX8 1-8x F1 - entire ocular moves on the ATACR 1-8x F1)

Highly unlikely without illumination.

There is nothing in these reticles to bring the eye to the center at low power. Thats why I'm hesitating replacing my LRHS with one until the review come out. But I most likely will because it does have illumination.

They said in the original article the scopes had daylight bright illumination to combat this.

Are you actually telling me though you’re taking shots at x32 power when hunting?
No. He’s saying he wants to be able to see the reticle at 4x and anything that’s not obstructive at 32 will be crazy tiny at 4. As you say illumination will help with that.

If the resolution is anywhere closed to the 7-35, I will own many of the 4-32's. My guess is at the price point vs features, they had to compromise somewhere and the glass is a likely place to start.

Most likely but id also venture to guess 32x given the design isn't going to be anything like 25x or 35x on the ATACRs.

I’ll be interested to see by how much. Been contemplating on trying to loose some weight on the AIAX by replacing the razor Gen 2 but definitely don’t wanna downgrade in glass. My eyes are on both for sure.

Yep. And part of me says it won’t be a big deal, because I worry about walking shots in poor light with this reticle. Well, I shouldn’t be walking in or out in legal light. So if I can remember to turn illumination on the first half hour and last half hour it shouldn’t be an issue. But I feel like it will be, and I don’t want to have to rely on a battery for those shots is all. I’m sure I’m blowing it out of proportion but this argument happens with 3x/4x zoom FFP scopes. I don’t see how it can be anything but much much worse with an 8x scope. I really hope these new NF’s prove me wrong!

this is the reason I' looking to change the scope on my RPR in 243Win; the H59 reticle in my burris Xtr2 disappears in low-light on 4x (and my illumination does not seem to work)

I don't have any direct comparison photos, but I'm assuming they modified the reticle sizes to some extent for such a broad magnification range.

After having looked through them, they seemed just as usable on the lowest magnification setting as these MIL-R illuminated examples on 4x.

The floor examples I saw were in MOA with 20MOA turrets.

The 'glamour shots' they have posted do appear to show 10MIL turrets.

The FOV and internal travel seems quite impressive for the x2.5-20. This keeps getting better.
It does really does. I’m excited to hear and see what people think of them once they get them. I’m looking to loose some weight on my AX to make it more hunter friendly and this could be the ticket (Gen 2 Razor now). It’ll all depends on image quality because it’s checking all the boxes right now.

This scope appears, on paper, to be a strong competitor to my LRHS.

I just can’t help but like the G2H reticle better than anything NF is offering on these.
While I agree, especially for hunting, I would like something a bit more refined for my long range AR. This is definitely the right combo of power, weight and size for me. I just don’t hav a new scope in the budget this year. I shall see...

Right now I have a 3-12 LRHS, 3-24x42 March, and 3-24x52 March and depending on how initial reviews are, all could potentially be replaced by these.

Weight and reticle is what’s holding me back from replacing the LRHS and glass for the other two. Will have to wait and see when they come out.

I called NF today to ask about a reticle change for my ATACR's. Apparently, they're no longer offering that service. :-(

But, I asked about these scopes. The guy said it's the exact same glass as the ATACR. That's great if it's true.

These scopes fit all my needs and wants with the exception of the low profile elevation turret. I hate the tall turret on my hunting rifles. They just get in the way on a pack and maneuvering.

Then why buy an atacr?

"Same glass" means absolutely nothing. That's what marketing people say when they need to give a vague answer.

I suspect ATACR is a better optimized system design.

Ilya
ilya has it right.

glass okay it's a good starting point. but theres way more to the system than just the glass itself. coatings numer of elements etc especially when you get smaller and lighter and shorter, and with an 8x erector

look at the kahles or eotech vodoo scopes. they didnt changes the glass but other things to make the CA go away
