New Labradar App now available

I’ve used it a couple times since the update. It seems like it doesn’t the connection when the phone sleeps, but the armed/disarmed can get out of sync and then it gets stuck. If you manually hit the button on the Labradar unit to make it the same status as hwon on the phone, it seems to connect back just fine. Still not quite right, but I didn’t have to kill/restart the app like I used to.
Overall it’s definitely an improvement.
They must be getting ready to release new version for Android. The app is currently gone in play store. Noticed that yesterday.
Labradar said the app has been submitted to the play store, just waiting for them to release it.
Definitely much improved, but it seems you still can’t add shots to an existing series?
LOL, been getting ready to release for 4 years. How do they make a major announcement at Shot Show and then nothing.....

Not a fan of the font sizes and colors in places but they have added some neat features with ability to rename series, add notes and weather info.
Bummer they didn't take the weather the next logical step and allow gathering from a kestrel or from local mobile sources like Strelok does. It asks for Location access so was halfway there already.
So far tried using the new app on a Moto G5+ on Android 8.1 with the older 1.2.4 firmware, everything seemed to function fine but did not conduct a range test and gather shots.
I updated to firmware 1.2.7 and the 8.1 device still functioned fine with it.
I also tried using the old 1.0.0 app on a Moto X with Android 5.1 that has acted as my dedicated LabRadar remote, the old app still functioned fine with the new firmware.
The new app is available for Android 5 and newer, but will keep this on the old app until I can get to the range and test more.
I also tested the new app on a Lenovo TB-8505F tablet with Android 10 it also seemed to function fine.
One Android issue on ALL of them was you needed to manually grant Location and Storage permissions in Android Settings. Doing so at the prompts (IF you even get them) crashes the app. This is an Android issue not the app.

Galaxy S9+ with new app and firmware 1.2.7 is no joy for me. Tried several troubleshooting methods...including actually following the instructions.
Going to dig out an old phone and try that. Really wanting this to work.

Give this a try.
First thing I did, made sure I had developer access on my device. If you don't, Settings > About phone > scroll down to Build number and tap that repeatedly until you have developer access.
After that, Settings > System > Developer Options > scroll down until you see Bluetooth AVRCP Version - change that to AVRCP 1.6, I also changed Bluetooth MAP Version to 1.4
(The default for me was AVRCP 1.5 and MAP version 1.2, resetting the Wifi/Mobile Data/Bluetooth settings without changing the AVRCP and MAP version did not work.)
Next thing I did, System > Reset options, and I reset settings for wi-fi, mobile data, bluetooth.
Restart phone then attempt to connect.
Updated my labradar and installed new app and everything worked perfect. Don’t laugh but I’m still running a black berry.
Even with the new app my S21 and S10 get a connection error. There's no Bluetooth MAP in either system like shown above.
In developer options, look for Enable Gabeldorsche (Enables the Bluetooth Gabeldorsche feature stack) and enable that feature along with AVRCP 1.6. Gabledorsche may auto turn off after phone reboot, if so, enable it again without rebooting.

Same here. Thank you @Evintos for taking time to help. I love troubleshooting and figuring things out but I'll admit this is out of my lane.
For those having connection issues, also try it with a freshly formatted SD card or even NO SD card.
A large number of stored shots or series (both of which are relatively TINY even on a 1 GB card) are one of the main culprits with connection issues.

With the unit turned off insert a SD Card with sufficient memory to record the shots you anticipate taking. Should you need to remove the SD Card always turn the power off prior to removing the SD Card. Make sure the SD Card is clean and free of debris before inserting. Keep the SD slot cover in place to protect it from dust, moisture, etc. Micro USB are not recommended. If no SD Card is inserted, the system will record the shots in its internal memory. As this memory space is limited, you can only get advanced reports published when using a SD card. Gently insert the SD card with the electrical contacts towards the inside of the unit. Do not force the card into the slot.

Sadly there is no point to having larger capacity cards due to the data transfer issues over BlueTooth.
You will likely have difficulty finding smaller capacity cards with the speed rating that card provides, so basically are trading one issue for another.
Tried all the android troubleshooting provided here with no joy. Actually got an email back from LR too that went through the same steps.
Was reading through some of the other LR threads and a SH member mentioned putting his device in Airplane mode.
It worked. (app saw and connected to LR device)

FWIW, I have an Android and my phones ( an A70 and now a new S21) have not worked since the 2018 update. When the latest update came out, I down loaded it and again, my Android phones would not work. I tried all of the fixes listed in this thread and none of them worked. I emailed Labradar and their response was to try the Bluetooth Settings reset. I had not tried this fix yet bc resets can have unintended consequences. But I went ahead and followed their instructions on my old phone that I no longer use. And it worked. What was interesting was that they suggest 2 setting changes but my phone already had those settings so I did not change anything. So just by going into the reset option, not changing anything bc I already had the correct settings, and then hitting reset, the app now works. Labradar is also aware that for many users, this is all you have to do to get the app to work.
My Andoids now connect and I can use the app wo issues as of now. The app is an improvement but there are some annoying features that you just shake your head at and wonder why they did it that way ( like yes there is now a section for notes but you can't down load those notes and the only way to see them again is to connect thru the app and go search for them). But that is a whole different thread....

The Android version works Great.Patiently waiting for the Android version. Hopefully it will drop before the
end of the year.
But, you will probably need to do a cell phone Network RESET for your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connections.
That solved all of my issues, after a recent Android update, and the new Labradar app works great!
I also sent a note to Labradar that they might want to add that into their FAQs. The Network RESET seems to fix about everything with any Bluetooth device!
I see a lot of notes about people trying to clear cashe and clear memories, reloading apps, emptying storage etc etc and none of that actually fixes the problem. It's a connectivity issue that the Network RESET does fix.

Easy and fixes almost all communication issues ... Unless the issue is with the device or it's software. And there's really not a major problem with the Labradar... That said, they certainly could program their system to be more broadly compatible so it doesn't take an IT guy to make it work on his cell, tablet or computer.

It's alarming that you would need to reset cellular network bindings in the phone to make the app work.
How or why the labradar app even remotely touches that in the OS and IP stack is disturbing.

I think is more because android has all 3 radios under that setting Vs the "need" to reset cellular and WiFi.
It's shitty development and implementation of basic functionality. This isn't advanced programming.
I put this on the back burner for a while because I was getting no where despite trying the above recommendations.
One that I didn't try is the network reset. Can someone explain to me how to do this an what, if any, issues it might cause to my phone?

Link from Sony that shows what all it will change so review it and know what all you need to note beforehand if want to re-enable any of them.
If you email LR support, they will send you directions. It was pretty easy to follow. The only confusion for me was the settings they suggested were the settings already defaulted into the phone. So I did not have to change anything. BUT I did have to still hit the RESET button. I know, makes no sense. If I remember right, I did have to reconnect to a couple of bluetooth devices but no big deal.
This fix worked on my Galaxy A71 and S21.
Looks like resetting the network did the trick. The app appears to be working fine, just had to log back onto my wifi and repair a couple of bluetooth devices. Looking forward to trying it on the range!

Many people think just because they developed a good product, creating a phone app for it would be a cinch...and its not.
Apps are most often thought of as "add-ons" or "nice to haves" by people who view their other product as their mainline business....so, there are a ton of totally shit apps out there. Way it is.
Android is tough to develop for due to the fragmentation and inconsistency across devices and carriers even when using the same Android version.
iOS is simpler in that regard given is a limited set of hardware and OS versions you have to write for. Their difficulty is apple's seemingly random requirement changes or acting like the DMV when trying to get something approved and they will only tell you one thing is wrong at a time Vs all the problems disqualifying you.

That's funny, their support just sent me the beta version of that on Monday. Is to make Bluetooth connections more reliable.

The beta they sent me has a newer build date. Guessing they forgot to upload that 1.3.2 build a month ago when it was made.
I just got the beta version v1.3.2 from support this week as well when I couldn't get a connection with 1.2.7. I had to change some of the settings on my Samsung A20 to complete the Bluetooth connection as Evintos explained in post# 65. So far the connection is stable. If you have other Bluetooth connections such as hands-free to your truck/car or Bluetooth Speakers (like Bose) you will have to re-establish those. Honestly, I gave them a few select thoughts regarding the hassel to establish the connection and told them I'd get a MagnetoSpeed v3 if it failed. I'll just wait and see how this goes for now.

With 1.2.7 I resetted the bluetooth connections etc and it connected but I had to delete/reconnect all my devices. When I went to use it at he range a week later no joy.
I installed 1.3.2 and without any other changes it connected. Time will tell but I'm cautiously hopeful. Galaxy S10.

yes you. loose all your BT links and wifi access but it will connect to your LR and app.
did it with both Samsung s21ultra and tab4s. if you want to switch between phones then it was a matter of power cycle the Labrador and connect with the next handset.
