Nice! (I am convinced based on personal experience that the best way to get over the loss of a dog is to get another and the sooner the better)

Did a quick look at the AKC on these Anatolian Shepherd's they sound like an interesting breed, what drew you to them?

Re: new pup

Yep,..great friend and all dogs are good,..only bad poeople who raise them. Looks like a great pup.

My wife and I have never been able to have kids so our dogs are our "kids". They are our family.

Have fun

Re: new pup

I know it is a little late but getting settled in a bit after the move. I am so sorry for your loss but hopefully this little girl will bring happiness once again. She is gorgeous!

Re: new pup

Wow TG, I was reading up on protection dogs and it just hit me your Anatolie Shepherd is mix of Kangal and Akbash; they grow to well over 200lbs. and have a bite strength (over 700 lbs!) 3 times a GSD and more than twice that of a Rottweiler. I know you can't take it home until 8 weeks but I would try to make friends with it before it's bigger than you!

This breed has an amazing history; over 6000 years old and was bred to guard livestock herds against Lions. Didn't realize it was the breed Letterman had on with Jack Hanna; about a push by cheetah conservationists to use them (Kangals)on farms in Africa to keep the cheetah away from livestock and thereby decreases their chances of being shot by an unhappy farmer.
