Rifle Scopes New Razor????

I like the new EBR-7D reticle. They cleaned the 7C reticle up quite a bit, it was unnecessarily busy. Much cleaner lines now. It may be on par with Leupold's PR2 reticle (my favorite). And I agree, they're gonna sell plenty of these. Hopefully the glass is on par with the mid-top tier scopes. I'll be interested to see how it stacks up with the 7-35 MK5 at about $1k more

I don't mind the brown color but Vortex is just stupid for not offering razors in black. They've got to miss out on a lot of sales due to their loyalty to that color. It can make a sexy rifle ugly.

Meh I bet they sell way more than they lose out on because of it.

Mark5 with the PR2 and PR1 reticles is definitely a very strong contender especially if you do not care about reticle illumination. That keeps the price down quite a lot.

It is entirely possible that if Leupold keeps the price of the Mark 5 steady, Vortex' price increases will help their market share.

This whole dynamic between Razor, Mark 5 and ATACR is really interesting. ATACR is in a somewhat different price category and they have probably the most dedicated fanboys (easily one of the most successful marketing campaigns) of any brand, but this should put a good bit of pressure on them. Razor Gen3 is coming just after Leupold finally got their reticle situation squared away, so we now have Mark 5 5-25x56 and 7-35x56, ATACR 5-25x56 and 7-35x56, Razor Gen3 6-36x56 and a couple of others really going after the same buyer. Add Leica PRS 5-30x56 and US Optics FDN25x hovering near there as well.

The dark horse is Burris, of course, and with all the people hinting that Burris is about to release something, I would not be surprised if it is something relevant to this category.

I am going to have all sorts of fun with this.

Now that the Razor Gen3 is here, it is going to be really interesting how this whole pecking order stacks up. I think Burris is doing a lot of good things with this one, but the proof is in the pudding. Both Burris and Vortex have to be able to make these consistently and in significant quantities. The market is definitely there.

I ordered a Razor HD II, 10+ weeks ago (no, I haven't gotten it yet), and, granted, the $$$ is much lower then 3K, but I'm considering canceling the order and either getting a HD III or the Zeiss. Comments/opinions?

Full disclosure, I run a Vortex on my deer .308 and am happy with it while I don't think I will ever give TT the money they want for their scope. But that may change when I win the Powerball! LOL

No its not, not even close. Its between 500 and $1500 cheaper than the Zeiss. In fact, it was $1999 for a day before vortex killed the 50% off and went back to 40%. Only the MOA was in stock however.

Anyone paying $3K+ for this is a moron.

I highly doubt the Razor is going to rival the Ziess, ZCO or TT. The only Japanese manufacture that has even come close is March and LOW is not Deon. The comparable march optics are priced similarly to those mentioned above. You get what you pay for.

Since we're on the subject of color (Razor 2 goes great with krg green) some of the pictures I've seen look more toward the coyote from baron23 post than the Razor 2. Is the Razor 3 the same color as the Razor 2 or are they different?

Commonly referred to as "the brown sand / grey green / mil-tan / browny / dark green / sniper black" one.

Yes, I’ve looked through both. The Zeiss at the precision rifle expo and the gen3, first at Vortex, and now at home. They’re both very nice! This gen3 is really an awesome piece of glass.

Nah, I have my eyes on a ZCO 5-27 as my next scope within a few months and I def plan to contact @CSTactical about it.

I think some in this forum might get 'Vortex' etched into their tombstones
(and possibly embed a rusty pot-metal Harris bipod into the face).
So I think they are holding their own in the Fanboy department.
