Decided to coat a cross while doing Cerakote certification
Old thread I know, but adding beta to this. I had same experience yesterday. New-to-me Cross, blindly threw a scope in a NF 20MOA unimount and headed to the range, and same experience.
Spoke with Odin Works on 29 March. They say they fell behind due to extensions so they are looking at May as an accurate timeline for barrel assemblies.
A new stock is in testing and pre-production from Made Rifle. Available end of May.

Build your own, its easy... I'm running the Sig hybrid cases resized in 6.5 CM, 308 Win, 358 Win, & 8.6 Blackout.
The cases can be sized and reformed to anything with a 308 case head.
6.5 CM runs 140 match over 3150 fps with hybrid cases.
308 Win runs 200 SMK at 2900 fps, with long barrel.
Running these in Remington 700 actions, and Ruger precision rifle.
Already made in volume, I have about 1500 or more cases....and they are right the accuracy is great a bit down from the top.
Example, 6.5 CM is accurate at 2990 fps with 150 SMK...no use pushing to over 3050 area, if ya lose accuracy.

Hopefully this helps someone: My Cross had a small amount of slop in the hinge. I figured out a way to make it lock up nice and solid. My original plan was to use a 4-40 set screw, but the tap broke. Fortunately, it broke at the perfect height and is just proud enough to take up the hinge slack and give a tight lock up.
Have you run a 308 at shorter lengths with this brass? I was thinking 178s @ 2800-2900 from a 16" would be awesome.
What barrel length for the 6.5?
My bolt guns are 22 to 30 inches.
I do not run the 16" or 18" AR 10 to those higher pressures as the bolt guns..
But my light weight 6 lb 16" 308 AR 10 shoots 168 eldm at 2756 fps and 1/2 moa groups are available, with regular brass.
The 22" 308 runs 155 match at 3100 fps, with the hybrid cases, but I aint gonna cut it to 16" just to see what velocities are possible. It has a 9 twist and 22" makes it easy carry rifle with 200 gr SMK .715 BC at 2800 fps.

I searched AW and a $93 magazine came up. I'd rather run an AR10 mag. Duramag makes a mag for like $22 that holds 20 rounds. 20 round mags don't typically get in the way of anything in the prone. I have a couple bolt guns with special mags and sometimes when a magazine is missplaced it's hard to find a mag. But double feed is nicer than single feed on any rifle that will reliably feed a double feed mag. The single feed mags are a pain to load. I realize most bolt guns can't reliably feed from a double feed mag so it's not an option for a lot of rifles.
Sig posted barrels in the last few days. They come with extensions. Looks like the taper is not on these barrels.
I’ve been looking at a Cross-PRS just as a cheap plinker. Are the triggers on these respectable? It’s my main reservation about picking one up.
Assuming it's the same trigger as the rest of the line, I find it to be pretty good in my plane Jane 308. I just picked up a Geissle SSA-E Xbow and after installing it and dry firing a few times, the first words out of my mouth were "hmm, feels just like my Cross trigger".
I wouldn't call myself a trigger snob (Though I run exclusively Timneys and higher end TTs on my other guns). Never once have I shot my Cross and felt like it really needed an upgrade.
Finally got my Proof for my Cross. 18" 22 cm gonna be one hell of a truck gun.
Proof weighted 2lb 6oz and my stock 6.5 18" weights 2lb 12oz. The proof is way thicker than the stock barrel.
I have messed with one at my local gunshop. Way to light for what im want to do with it.
What is the better option for mounting a scope to the Cross, scope rings or a one piece base?
I had Vortex Pro Medium Rings and recently switched to a WARNE -XSKEL thinking it would be better. What has worked best for the group?

With the adjustable cheek riser, it will all come down to what height over bore you want. I’ve used both, and both have worked just fine. I would guess the majority would prefer rings to allow the scope to sit a little lower.

Thank you, I am trying to learn and appreciate the help. What is the benefit of the scope sitting lower? Is it shooter preference or to get the body as low to the gun for better body position, or is it scope elevation related?

Both. If you mess with scope height in a ballistics app you can see it will have an impact on your trajectory. Nothing that can’t be accounted for with modern technology, so it’s mostly preference.
It only matters if you're trying to manipulate some sort of point blank zero. If you're using data it doesn't matter. Ballistically speaking. It originated when people didn't have adjustable cheek pieces.
Likely only on a new rifle until Sig puts it up for sale for an insane price.
Hey- Where did you get the round bolt knob? Looks like it would fit the hand well.
Does anyone know where you can buy the paddle mag release lever (as they put on the PRS and STX models)? Seems like they would sell those like they do the upgraded safety selectors.
It was sold briefly on their site, obviously it's gone now. Best bet if that doesn't come back is an extended model from Made Rifle.
Its just off an old sterk knob i had for a tikka. Had to grind the bolt a little to make it fit but i like it alot more than the factory knob.
Thanks. I saw those and may need to get one. Was just thinking that I may be able to get the paddle a bit cheaper (Sig sells their upgraded selector switch fairly reasonably). The paddle mag release should be standard on all of them. The baseline releases are a pain in the finger (literally)!
Cool. I think I may have one of them laying around in my parts box from a Tikka build. Those are just about perfect for operating.
Some tripod shooting practice with the Cross. Big fan of the Arca handguard.
Does anyone have any recommendation for a lightweight scope base? I don't mind the MDT rings, but I'd like to try a lightweight base instead.
Maybe check out Murphy Precision, they might have a titanium base but not sure it will be lighter than aluminum just stronger.
I'm diggin the wood grip though.
Tier One 30mm height or Spuhr's SCP-3001. Warne's precision unimount is a good option. That's what I'm running on my Cross.
For a lightweight option, Nightforce Ultraight rings. That's what i have on my Fix rifle with a Vortex Razor LHT. NF Unimount and Sig Alpha Mount are both the lightest mounts around. I have both and both are great. NF provides lower heights which may be beneficial depending on which LHT you are using (50mm vs smaller)
My buddy just got his Sawtooth in. Patiently waiting for his suppressor to get approved too so we can go make some pew pew noises to compare it to my custom 7 PRC. Will report back.

If you're on FB, there's a very active Sig Cross group and I thought I saw some feedback there on the Sawtooth.
I have a older cross 6.5. I considering picking up a lightweight hunting tripod, seems most use arca rail now.
What would be the pro's and cons of swapping to a new style arca handgaurd from sig rather than just adding a arca rail.
Would the new rail be lighter than the old one with a added on arca?
Do the arca rails have mlok on the sides still for my sling mounts?

It would be most cost effective to just buy a small 3” section of ARCA (mlok attachment) to run near the mag well. That’s what I did; of course, if you just want to buy the new rail, go ahead.
Ya that makes sense.
I just ordered a 3" rail, I do prefer the round handgaurd for carying anyways.
If you’re not running an ARCA bipod, there really isn’t much practical need for more anyway.
