New very cool innovative Arca rail from Seekins

Very impressed with this new innovative Arca rail from Seekins. Available in MLok and a screw in design for their hunting stocks.
As you can see the rail is turned 90*. It does not stick out past the side of the rail. Very comfortable in the hand. Locks up solid in the Anvil.

That IS interesting. They actually took ergonomics into account and eliminated the sharpish edges in a novel way.

The Henderson Hunter rail is decent; it is very thin and doesn’t stick into one’s hand as much as others. Their product descriptions don’t do them any favors…very little detail. Had to call.

But the best Arca ergos I’ve run across are on the aluminum Whiskey 3 Arca forend. It flares out right above the Arca to move your palm away from the Arca edges.

I don’t even notice the Arca edges on mine.

I’d seen that KRG added built in Arca on the metal forend. Like it. I like my colors to much on our Whiskeys and the KRG Arca works well enough. Haven’t given up on the idea of adding the Arca spigot rail they offer.

They demo'd these at SHOT show on their new carbon chassis gun and I was super impressed. It takes a little getting used to operating the tripod head rotated 90* but the ergonomics of the plate on the gun are certainly better.

Agree it does take a little bit of getting used to but definitely workable, especially with the Anvil

I’m trying to think of downsides to the 90° thing and the only thing I can think of is bipod mounting. But I like pic rails for that, so…unless I’m missing something…looks like a solid win.

True, wouldn’t be ideal for mount a bipod at the front of a stock. I think the idea is that these are made for the area just in front of the magwell as that is where you might carry a rifle. The profile is almost perfect for the hand.

Totally get it. Was just trying to be nitpicky and to look at all of the angles.

The only reason they wouldn’t work right now for a bipod is we don’t have 90°clamps for bipods. But that could be rectified immediately. So it’s only a temp downside for some (not me, as mentioned I use pic rails for bipods).

I just was racking my brain trying to come up with a downside.

Here’s one: can’t slide back/forth to find a tripod balance point if you add/subtract a suppressor or longer/shorter barrel. I consider this to be pretty minor…I’m not a PRS guy, however.

A little more of a big deal on a switch barrel setup, but I could see just moving the plate on my chassis. Harder on a Manners—type stock, though.

But I did come up with an additional upside to that limitation!

You know how RRS came up with their R-lock pin to limit rifle sliding under recoil? And 419 did too? Well, with the clamp at 90°, there’s no sliding back possible!

Oooh yeah I wasn’t including panners. I’m not familiar with the Ckye, but given enough pan degrees, I could see how that would work.

What does this achieve over just running a small 3 bar pic rail section there? Is it intended more for people with arca only tripod heads?

I'm all for options and my Seekins products are great, just don't see this making sense with my gear.

I think it’s about ergos and people that like Arca. On rifles without enough stock overhang, gripping regular exposed Arca with one’s hands is less than comfortable. Especially without gloves and/or in cold weather.

Some people seem to not mind it. Others do.

I think pic rail is often better, if you have the tripod head to support it.

Or this one…another Chinese thing like the Sunway. Looks like one might be able to adjust clamp tension by spinning the lever?

I actually am starting to prefer a screw clamp vs lever to stop faffing around and constantly adjusting the lever for different plates. Too bad there isn’t a screw knob on either.

I wish there was an American manufacturer of these things vs using a place that has ripped off RRS in different areas in the past.

@MPHReallyRightStuff any ideas? I own the SC-ARC as well, but beyond a DIY, I don’t see an easy way to adapt it with a bottom Arca plate.

Well, the issue is I have a TVC-33 tripod with your leveling head. I like using a panning base with it, and I have one made by the German company FLM that has an integrated screw clamp. The PR-15 (I’ve disabled the 15°click stops):

For small varmint shooting with lots of fast action and panning, I’ve found having separate tension controls for up/down and left/right is very beneficial as I tend not to lock everything down for the shot.

All is good, right? No. Arca plates can hurt the hand if you are using a thinner-stocked field gun or an AR15. They stick out too much.

So I could either use the Seekins plate above (apparently MLOK only) or use a pic rail at the rifle’s bottom instead of Arca. I have found many bottom pic rails to be less painful in the hand unless they are exceptionally sharp/not deburred.

So, since I don’t think RRS has a panning base with an adjustable-width Arca/pic clamp, I think the only pic rail solution for me is a pic clamp (lever or screw) with a bottom Arca interface.

The non-QR pic clamp-to-Arca examples shown above by you and others are no good as one would just leave those attached to the gun’s pic rail for the duration of the hunt. And that would mean I haven’t moved the needle on rifle handling comfort.

Btw I do own your Anvil on a TFC-34 and just don’t find it ideal for the niche I am in.

Hopefully I have more clearly laid out the scenario for you.

Also, an Arca plate with a 17s “male” bit on top would convert either the SC-ARC or BTC-PRO into what I desire as well. But such a thing seems not to exist.

Atlas makes a 17s to 1/4-20 adapter…that’s as close as I’ve found.

Update on the Seekins. They make two versions. One MLOK and one is for their Slam rifle. The latter uses two screws to bolt on to the bottom of the Slam chassis.

However, Jorden said that it could be used to mount to, say, a wood-stocked hunting rifle!

$45 each.
