I just purchased a new NF 5.5-22 x50 scope from Euro Optics and this thing is awesome! The glass is crystal clear and the reticle NP-R1 is just amazing! I opted for a plain jane model didn't need zero stop or HS turrets so no bells and whistles, but if anyone is having doubts on NF or this particular model rest assured it's a great piece of glass. I was debating like so many others between the 3.5-15 or the 5.5-22 and after looking through both the 5.5-22 just seemed more suitable for my needs plus if I want lower mag I can just dial down, but at x22 this thing is very clear. I would also like to thank Alex at Euro Optics the guy is just one cool dude. He went above and beyond to make me the customer happy. I will definitely be heading back for any other scope needs I may have.

Congrats on the new Night Force. They make a great scope! Once you deal with Euro Optics you will go no place else. Alex and the gand are great and they will always take care of you. In todays fast paced world, its nice to know that some people still do things the old fashioned way, they earn your respect with SERVICE! I will be a Euro Optics customer for life....

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

I have one too. I have a good, usable reticle at both low power and high power that is visible in low light as well. It is a fine reticle that doesn't cover much target at all. Great scope.

If concerned about ranging at low power the tic marks are 4 times more than what they are at max power. Not too difficult to remember, and should work for movers just fine.

Ain't that the truth. I got mine with the zero stop and HS turrets. The only thing I wish is that I opted for the 56mm.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

Dont let it get to you, as the difference is only slight.

You might get a bees dick of extra visibility as the suns going down, so unless you do most of your shooting in the dark it aint that big a deal.

First time I have heard that one!

Not going to sweat it but when I get my next one it will be 56mm MLR/mil.

I wouldn't sweat it. I have heard the 56 gives you 15 minutes more of shoot time at dusk. The 56 also most the time requires higher rings and I personally don't want to mess with a proper cheek weld. It also looks like a telescope for star gazing a little to big for my taste. Congrats on the HS and ZS I just didn't need either while both very cool though!

I agreee the 56mm is more trouble getting the right rings than the extra 15 mlnutes of shooting time at dusk is worth.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

How much you pay for the scope?

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

I bought my NXS 5.5-22x50 NP-R2/MOA from a guy here on the hide and man, there's not a day that goes by that I'm not fondling that scope. When mounted on my POF .308, I'm assured that it was $1,648 well spent!

Man, whatever it is that you are smoking, I'd like to get some. I know I'd be scattered after smoking it.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

Hard to go wrong with a NF. They are great scopes. As for the 50 vs. 56 mm objective, I personally choose to go with the 50. I shoot until "hard dark" sometimes and I just can't see that the 56 is going to give me more than the 50. The amount of light that the 56 draws in over the 50 is small. Also, as mentioned, you will have to use higher rings on the 56. This is fine so long as it does not mess up your check weld, however, all the light gathering ability in the world is useless if you can't maintain good shooting form.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

I have a 50 and a 56. Can't tell much difference between the 2 but I like the low profile contour of the 50. My next nf will be another 50. Great scope

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

56mm 12% more than 50mm. In the case of low light, more is better. With 56mm, you can get either a closer look at the animal or object, with more power for the same amount of light, or, you can get more light with the same amount of power, as compared to a 50mm. The exit pupil is better, with the 56.

Adjustable comb takes care of cheek position.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

Congrats on the new scope. I've got the same one.

As far as 50 vs 56. Its so hard to see or tell a difference. It almost boils down to which one you like the look of better. For me, I like the 50 better, lower mounting capability, fits my cheek weld better, but this is just me.

Actually, more like 25%. Don't forget to square it.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

After getting my first NF my objective turned to getting rid of every thing slowly and buying all NF. I have looked through the more expensive scopes and see no reason to spend more money than what a NF cost.

Yep, 25.44% greater area. Not sure how much my eyes could take advantage of. I prefer the 50 to the 56 on NF 5.5x22.

50/2=25 25x25=625 x(22/7)=1,964.29
56/2=28 28x28=784 x(22/7)=2,464.00

2464.00/1964.29 = 1.2544

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

Congrats on a quality optic. What you do not want to do is make the mistake of looking through quality glass (NF/PH) when you are only be able to afford a Vortex Viper. I should have never done that.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

+1 for everybody. I have the 5.5-22 and 3.5-15 and can't be more satisfied. I too have slowly made my other scopes disappear. They're like a massive set of boobs, you just can't quit touching em.

Re: Nightforce 5.5-22 Awesome!

dam right - but I guess without those prices we wouldn't even have firearm shops.. they wouldnt make nearly as much as they used to since Johnny Howard outlawed semi-autos.
