Athlon as well and I have no complaints (Argos, Ares and Cronus)Switching between different reticles isn't as bad as you'd think.
Most modern reticles are very similar these day with .2mil holds throughout, very few reticles have a bunch if weird subtensions that require you to memorize them.
If you are dead set on sticking with one reticle to simplify life Vortex is your best bet.
Diamondback Tac, Strike Eagle, PST, Razor and AMG all have the same reticle and offer price points from 400USD up to 2000USD.
There are dealers who ship internationally who will likely be a far better price than your local pricing (as your Kahles example shows).
I haven’t had my daily fill of drama yet. Care to elaborate?Well atleast they have something in common with Nightforce.
Most here saw the drama that went on last year with the vet who tried to get NF to fix his defective optic for like a year. Had to sue them and then they scrubbed evidence of it most likely as part of a NDA.
Kahles has MUCH better reticles and IMO, better glass. They are also roughly the same price for similar type optics. I would go Kahles all things being equal but everyone likes a different flavor of ice cream. Variety is the spice of life.
Pepridge farms remembers.
Regret not getting a ZP5 for $2100 when they were around.. OOFThey all have gone up $500 since last year. There were sub $3000 Nightforce, kahles and others. But i think those days are over. At least for 34mm alpha
I own Nightforce Swarovski, Vortex, Leupold, Schmidt & Bender, Nikon, Red Field and Nikon. Of the above named, I always purchase the best of the brand. Until recently I was content with both the Nightforce and Vortex. I liked my Swarovski and Schmidt & Bender just fine. The FFP scopes are best for long range and target shooting. But There is no comparison between any of the others and Kahles! End of story... that said the Kahles is almost double the price in most cases except my Nightforce and it is still $1400.00 more money. Is it worth $1400.00 more? No, unless you are shooting long range competition... buy a Nightforce or VortexA buddy of mine is a dealer for Kahles and even though the the Kahles is optically superior to the Nightforce he keeps telling me that I should just buy a nightforce and be done with it.
Until he became a Kahles rep, he was exclusively using Nightforce on every gun he shot.
My current scope line up has my Meopta ZD as my top scope, and everything else pales in comparison.
What would you do?
I've owned many you listed as well as others, but I find the contrast much better in my NF than the others.I own Nightforce Swarovski, Vortex, Leupold, Schmidt & Bender, Nikon, Red Field and Nikon. Pics of the smoking hot wife or this thread is dead to me!Dude his mate's rate is kind of shit, the problem is for his country he is the only importer. The cost of export after he has to import it is really high, I can order one cheaper from my guy in Germany or through Euro Optic or Cameraland NY by calling.
That and his smoking hot wife just left him after he caught her in a train with 3 dudes. He needs some slack.

If you google Christine McQeen the infamous Australian escort, they are VERY similar looking. Enough that it caused problems for her travelling.
If you are retired Navy, ask NF for their military price list. They all have gone up $500 since last year. There were sub $3000 Nightforce, kahles and others. But i think those days are over. At least for 34mm alpha
Crosswinds Precision Marksmanship Academy in Colorado recommends the Athlon among others for their long range classes.Athlon as well and I have no complaints (Argos, Ares and Cronus)
When Kahles shits the bed, as they did with the gen1 and gen2 K624i series, they refuse to acknowledge or address it. For that singular reason, I will never again buy a Kahles anything. I've dealt with many companies that have screwed things up; and with the exception of Trijicon (tri-power, SRS, early RMRs), no one has ever been as jackass about it.
That, and Nightforce just straight-up work. The Beast had an annoyance, and a few others have had minor issues (early electronic illumination controls), but Nightforce generally gets it right or makes it right.
Most people that have played this game for awhile have a list of "no fucking way" products or makers. I know of several who have Kahles on that list, but don't know of any who have Nightforce on that list.
Mileage varies.
I have used both and own neither. That said the Kahles is nice overall but not superior to the Nightforce if we are talking about the Atacr. We can argue about features and turrets but as far as glass quality the NF Atacr is in my opinion the best. We recently had the chance to test and use the NF and Kahles at ranges out to a mile against the two scopes I presently own in that class the Mark 5 and Athlon Cronus. In full disclosure I have always favored Leupold and own several including the above mentioned Mark 5 and a Mark 4. That said I have owned several German scopes in the past. They are nice! However, getting the opportunity to look thru and shoot the above mentioned four the NF had the best glass clarity followed by the Athlon if there was any discernable difference, both are Japanese made optics possible made by the same OEM. The Leupold was a very close third and appeared to be brighter but not as clear. With the NF and Cronus gen 2 you could litterally see the veins running in leaves at distance behind targets. The Kahles was fourth. My draw back to the NF is I don't like the reticle. I prefer the Leupold or a standard mil dot. Don't get me wrong you cannot I believe go wrong with any of these choices. They are all excellent optics, which should be the case with those costing 2k+. Pick one and go with it. If pure clarity is the scale to go by buy the NF. It is the best IMHO.A buddy of mine is a dealer for Kahles and even though the the Kahles is optically superior to the Nightforce he keeps telling me that I should just buy a nightforce and be done with it.

You said: “even though the the Kahles is optically superior to the Nightforce.” First off, they are both SOLID optics for the money - please do some more research and speak with those who actually used these optics, for an even more robust perspective if possible.A buddy of mine is a dealer for Kahles and even though the the Kahles is optically superior to the Nightforce he keeps telling me that I should just buy a nightforce and be done with it.

Definitely wasn't impressed with the Kahles after buying it...

You should check the pricing for the Schmidt & Bender PMII 5x25x56 USMC - it’s going for around $800.00 (USD) than the similar Kahles these days (H37 Illum. reticle).I own Nightforce Swarovski, Vortex, Leupold, Schmidt & Bender, Nikon, Red Field and Nikon. Of the above named, I always purchase the best of the brand. Until recently I was content with both the Nightforce and Vortex. I liked my Swarovski and Schmidt & Bender just fine. Just to be clear, all Schmidt PMII 5-25’s tunnel old and new, they have not changed the design that I am aware, but the 3-20 and 3-27, and other newer Schmidt designs do not suffer from the tunneling effect the 5-25 does. The only thing I didn't like about the Schmidt was the tunnelling at 5 power, he said his was an older model and the current Schmidts didn't do that.
They’ve moved, had different ownership and generally struggled the past few years, but they are still on the earthI’ve been away for a minute and I’m prepared for my lashing... but did USO fall off the face of the earth?
They haven't been relevant for 15 years. They’ve moved, had different ownership and generally struggled the past few years, but they are still on the earth![]()
I agree, i've done business with a couple you've mentioned and have nothing but good to say about them. Having a business of my own, even though small in comparison with these guys, i know how important CS is. Nothing worse or better than word of mouth advertisementI call BS on that. Especially since they are both here as commercial supporters. Search for threads calling out how good Jason @jb1000br and Doug @gr8fuldoug are. CS is how you get customers and get them to return. Good CS doesn't cost money. Good CS is how you make money.
So nobody feels left out others that are great as well are @CSTactical, @LibertyOptics, and @Mile High Shooting. All are in no particular order. (If I forgot anybody else I'm sorry).
You just can't go wrong with the Nightforce.Don't argue buy a Nightforce. I recommend you buy a NX8 2.5-20x50 F1. Great virtually for every and any shooting enviroment.
Yea unless you get a defective one and you have to spend a year fighting Nightforce and finally have to sue them to make it right...........Don't argue buy a Nightforce. I recommend you buy a NX8 2.5-20x50 F1. Great virtually for every and any shooting enviroment.
