I just opened the box on a new Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x24 and discovered a problem. The eyepiece is seized in place and the eyepiece focus cannot be adjusted. My eyes require refocus of the eyepiece to clear up the reticle. I called Nightforce and was told the lubricant used has probably dried up and frozen the eyepiece in pIace. The scope was inspected in 2009 when it left the factory. I do not have 5 weeks to wait for Nightforce to repair this issue. We bought this scope to TE for possible 50 scope Military purchase order, but are now having serious afterthoughts about this piece of equipment. Does anybody have any tricks that might work to free up the eyepiece? I have let 3 strong men try to move this lens and have not gotten it to budge one iota. I will be forced to sell it and buy a Leupold if I can not get this scope ready for deployment. Thanks for any constructive imput. Kilmore.

Re: Nightforce Problem

I would sen it back to where you bought the scope they will send you a new one, And wont take 5 weeks. you can go ahead and buy 50 of those scope. The chance of problems with NF scopes is very little.

Re: Nightforce Problem

Have you tried using a couple of pipe wrenches?

Just kidding. Sorry but I couldn't resist.

Re: Nightforce Problem

Thanks for the imput. I put the scope in the sun, but did not think to heat it up with a heat gun. I was tempted to take a hammer and chisel to it, "beat it to fit, paint it to match". As far as finding a NF, I got's friends in low places. I am going to turn this scope over to a DEA shooter and have purchased a Leupold 1-8 to TE for contract purchase. The fight is on and there is no time to waste. Out here, SFC Moore 18FW9S6 USASOC (ret)

so the "ocular" adjustment is stuck and cannot be adjusted?

Both of mine were Extremely tight, ended up using two soft
rubber strap wenches and they worked like a charm.

Re: Nightforce Problem

Don't base the NF scope quality on the issue you are currently having. The 24mm scope has not been in commercial production for a while as they went to the 32mm. The 24 is as I understood in talking with NF a military production. I've Been trying to find a 24mm with the reticle I want and they are difficult to locate. As a previous poster commented, use 2 rubber strap wrenches and low heat to break the tension created by the dry lube. You won't be disappointed with the NF quality.

I had the same problem with my 12-42 today. You have to be persistent. Remove your scope from the rifle so that you have more leverage. You can do it. No need to send back to NF.
