Rifle Scopes nightforce.....wow

So i'm sure people have posted this before, but i just got myself a nightforce 5.5-22 with moa npr1 reticle. all i can say is wow. i own a zeiss, leoupold, super sniper (which was on my .308 before this one), none of these compare. nightforce wins hands down.

now the fun part, i put it on with two days left to hunt for deer, zeroed it and checked the adjustments quickly for accuracy. first night i didn't have any luck, but the next night with my brother spotting for me i took a single shot and dropped a 178 grain amax over 41.5 grains of imr 4064 into the vitals of a mature doe at 513 yards. the young buck that was chasing her never even realized where the shot came from and went to grazing after she ran.

i never even touched the turret. check the book for elevation and windage, put the 13th hash mark on vitals, squeeze, collect deer.

like i said, wow, im sold!

Congrats on the nicely placed shot!

I closed out my doe tag on Friday evening with my 30-30 that still has a Bushnell on it. From 40yd in fading light the thought going through my head as I was getting settled on her spine was "dammit I wish I'd actually put the NF on this rifle last week."

Again, nice shooting on the good eats.

Great story and awesome shot! Believe you me, I love my NightForce just as much as you love yours. They are truly an excellent piece of hardware.

Nice. I'm already looking forward to trying the same setup next year. It looks like the A-Max performed well, correct?

I took my 14 year old nephew hunting last week. Within 5 minutes, we each shot a nice doe here in PA. I was suprised to learn that a deer carcass doesn't scare off other deer in the area.

oh yeah, a-max performed well, and has on every other critter i have shot with it. maybe 300 wood chucks, a yote, another deer or two. they work.

We haven't been able to hunt deer with a modern gun since the end of November (and it's only a 2 week season).

Whatup with the short, early season here in the Bluegrass state?

we dont get doe hunts out her on the left coast close to me that I know of, you guys are lucky in that respect. Nice prize, love my NF12-42 also. The lighted reticle is incredible in low light. I can ahrdly wait to go test mine on the new stick.

bought one a few months back too - the only other scope I'd used up till then was a Millet scope and Im so glad I bought up big.. so solid and reliable.. or as someone once said, 'one less thing to worry about'.

PA also only has a two week rifle season. In addition, you can't hunt deer on Sunday here, so you almost have to take time off of work if you plan on hunting much. I wish the season would be extended so that the population density of hunters in the woods was decreased.
