Apologies, that was just a photo from someone else's mishap. Mine is fine but needs some more sight in.
Personally, though Ill admit he was a talented musician, I dont really care for Zappa's work. I did see you post something about him and just saw this...The AAA stands for Analog/Analog/Analog...ie: every step of the recording process was dont analog, no digital. I have a couple of Bernie Grundman efforts and he is one of the old masters.

Zappa may have been scatalogical and, at one level, aimed at my generation’s versions of Beavis and Butthead. And his riffs were somewhat crazy. I use to shoot with a buddy that had a Smith & Wesson 686 357 mag with a 6 inch barrel
He was a range officer at an Issaic Walton and we would regularly shoot with just the two of us at the range in the colder months.
We were standing near each other on a covered range, maybe 1 person of distance between us, he was on his 2nd or 3rd reload, when
BOOM!
and I felt something hit me in the side
I look over and he is standing there in shock, his gun exploded, the top strap was embedded in the wooden roof above him, pieces of metal were imbedded in my leather jacket (glad it was cold out and we had heavy jackets on). He had some minor abrasions on his hands.
We were both fine, but DAMN! That was a scare, his gun looked worse than the pics in the OP
Then he says something to the effect, I knew I shouldn't have trusted another persons reloads

I have the new one, and love it. From what I've read its an improvement over the originals but mine could use a bit of trigger work.Man, that's an original Anaconda too...

And , yes… there is sort of the same Shock Jock humor. And as disgusting as I find Howard Stern… yes, they share that penchant for getting noticed for the wrong reasons.
Zappa is not understood without a deep dive. Gopher it!!
And Zappa was THE proto libertarian. Jack Kemp/John Anderson libertarian! Too bad more entertainers didn’t follow Zappa’s teachings about liberty in a cesspool of Mrs Kravitz nosey nutballs.

I had a 686and it was a fine weapon. I still have a 625. Somebody did a nice job on the trigger on this one, as smooth as an old Python.
I've handled two new ones. Timing and lockup are considerably better on the new models. Trigger is definitely better on the old.
There are a few cosmetic catches on the new one that have kept me from buying one.
Guess I can chime in by quoting "Stinkfoot" with my Python Boots being too tite and be relevant to all aspects of this thread.
Zappa was an absolute musical genius in my estimation. Always thought he did the juvenile stuff to poke fun and fund his jazz-orchestral pursuits. Took in a couple of his gigs and he was a master conductor with every band member acutely focused on his lead and lengthy improvisational solos; wheels off and tightly choreographed. Still need to get "Lumpy Gravy" to round out my collection.

I know I'm not suppose to laugh at guns exploding, but I can't help but laugh when I see a rifle barrel explode like that. Looks like a cartoon gun exploding.
Cartoonists of the 1930’s were probably well-familiar with how a gun blew up… because they probably saw it for real as a kid! They knew exactly what they were drawing!

Sorry about your friend......but.
The "never shoot anyone elses reloads" rule exists for a reason. I have pulled down hard to find ammo just for the brass and dumped the powder. Sometime depending on the looks, dump the bullet as well.
One rule I will never ever break, the other is not to let anyone shoot my reloads that are not related to me.
This is an oldie, and really painful, painful on many fronts, from the rifle, from her shooting it all the way around. Just incase someone has not seen this old clip.
Pretty much guarantee that is a double charge of bullseye behind a wad cutter target/plinking bullet. Bullseye is unforgiving!
