Was looking for more info as a lot of times videos on social media are going to be pretty one sided. Wasn't able to find much.
So, with the assumption the video is mostly correct, then yea, this is very bad and no real way to justify their actions as anything except incompetence/negligence. Unless there is more to story that isn't being reported currently, whoever made the decision to kick the door in should likely lose their job. Along with anyone in management who signed off or allowed it to happen. Kicking someone's door in is not something that should be taken lightly....especially when it's not something that's already developing like an active pursuit.
Definitely needs a policy change on needing several sign offs/approvals from chain of command before you kick a door in. And if there is already policy in place, anyone who signs off on an obviously bad decision of this level, needs to be shown the door. Possibly charged with the respective crime as well.
Also (again, just from the limited video available) they need to get some serious training in tactics at that department. If you feel there is exigent circumstances to not take the time for a warrant as well as kicking a door in......you shouldn't just be standing outside. Fortunately their terrible tactics likely avoided shooting or killing someone they shouldn't.
From an LE perspective, I do hope there is more to the story. But currently, definitely looks negligent and possibly criminal. If so, I'm glad the worst that happened to the victims is a broken door and a traumatic night.
