Not a snipers rifle, but it's vintage and beautiful. (Mannlicher-Schoenauer 1952)

Since you’re apparently a bit thick in addition to just being generally argumentative because of some perceived inferiority to the rest of the world, your statement very specifically and unequivocally was that everybody knows what Stutzen means. This was your intro here to show how much more you know than the rest of us poorly informed idiots.

To say that you are being pedantic is actually an understatement. Perhaps I need to explain the meaning of pedantic for you also, since you lack basic comprehension. I pointed out that the ‘average person’ (your words) does not know what you believe and still hold that to be a true statement.

Now, had you said ‘the average vintage gun aficionado’ to make your point, you wouldn’t be here arguing pointlessly to try and hold an untenable position.

But do carry on. I love seeing someone dig a hole deeper and deeper. 😉👍🏻👍🏻

Who is being "thick"?

Show me where I supposedly posted anything that
very specifically and unequivocally was that everybody knows what Stutzen means.

You are commenting on your own assumptions and seem to have a rather thin skin. If someone sharing information bothers you so, perhaps you shouldn't read such things.

Here is an excerpt from a post on another thread from member 'Sandwarrior'. Does he offend you, as well?

...One thing that drives me nuts though, (hate to be a negative Nelly) is when people call a full stocked rifle a Mannlicher or Mannlicher Schoenauer. Mannlicher is the action, Schoenauer is the magazine (rotary like a Savage 99). The stock is just a full stock that some models of military rifles had. SMLE's had full stocks.;)FCOL.

Get over yourself, don't be such a child.

Maybe that new guys who join and shit all over established members, no matter how right they are, often don’t last long here. Be right all you want but if your delivery sucks or is disrespectful (especially as a newb), you’ll be shown the door. We don’t suffer pedantic, self-righteous people here very well. Educated and experienced folks willing to share without arrogance? Please, make yourself at home. Stuck up ass? GTFO.

What is your problem?

Why are you so easily offended?

I have not 'sh*t' on anyone, the perceived offense is of your own making, as is the arrogance.

Your attitude sucks. You join here, come in to OUR home, and throw your weight around as if you’re someone we should listen to or care about without any evidence that we should do so. Some of us have been here for more than a hot minute and have a bit of respect for the community and what it’s become over the decades. You’ve been here a tick over a day and you’ve already outted yourself as a know it all, almost all you’ve done is correct people.

Shut up, sit down, and maybe try introducing yourself in the FNG forum properly. Then maybe change your delivery. Again, right or not, being condescending in your delivery will get you nowhere here, and not just with me as you’ve seen. Nobody cares about how technically accurate we are regarding nickels or bison. Sandwarrior can be bothered all he wants about calling full-stock rifles “Mannlichers,” but it’s well beyond his power to control and as already noted, it’s common vernacular (and has been for decades). Notice that he stated his opinion without talking down to anyone like some self-righteous ass, maybe you should try that. You may be a wealth of knowledge on everything Steyr/Mannlicher/Stutzen/whatever, but if you can’t deliver that knowledge in a way that others are willing/able to receive, then it’s useless. That’s Instruction 101.

Again, your perceptions are wrong.

I came to share information and was instantly attacked by yourself and 'lash'. When attacked, I respond.

Other members have 'liked' the same posts which you seem to find so threatening.

Grow up.

Nah, growing up sucks, I don’t want to wind up like yourself. But I can add you to my ignore list! Life’s too short to dicker with people who think they’re better than everyone else as you’ve so demonstrated. I’ll learn from people who don’t look down their nose at everyone the moment they join…

Ignore away, enjoy your own echo chamber of insecurities.

Your allegation that I 'think I'm better than everyone else' is born of such insecurities and is not accurate.

I only 'look down my nose' at fools such as yourself. I came here to share information, plain and simple.

If my use of the English language offends you, feel free to translate it to second grade taunts and swearing as "you've so demonstrated" to be your preference.

Have a fine day.

Lights a fire with gasoline and says it’s not arson.

Mannlicher-style rifles are highly sought after and very few models are in current production.
If, by "Mannlicher-Style", you mean full stocked; that is nothing compared to what makes a Mannlicher Schoenauer a Mannlicher Schoenauer.

Full stocked carbines are stutzen. Mannlicher Schoenauers were built in stutzen, half stocked, and (pre WW2) in take down versions.

Not all MS were full stocked, not all full stocked rifles / carbines are Mannlichers.

How was the above post 'lighting a fire with gasoline'?

The original post was from a member seeking advice regarding a Mannlicher Schoenauer.

That was just you grabbing the full gas can homey. Since you like corrective replies, a fire takes three things to function. That reply was just the fuel, the source was supplied by the OP, the heat will come if you stick around long enough acting like you have so far.

Your even watching this thread for replies so you can keep stoking the coals.

I had assumed that I was posting on a forum for adults.

The OP was 'source' for 'a fire'?

Good call I see there are a few listed already, but none in this particular configuration so that's good. Thank you.

Back to your MS, here are Stoeger catalog pages from when it was new:

MS Stoeger 1954 01.jpg

MS Stoeger 1954 Features.jpg

And a few years later:
MS 1952 GK 01.jpg

The Model 1952, also known as GK, introduced the 'swept back' bolt handle as well as 'shotgun type' safety, both efforts to make them more appealing to American markets where 'scope mounting was more popular than in Europe at the time.

The stock retained the 'pre war' cheekpiece and comb, but lacked the cool trap door buttplate of 'prewar' models which had included storage for take down cleaning rod and two 'back up' cartridges. Later models had the MC (Monte Carlo) or MCA (Monte Carlo Amerikanische) stocks unless specially ordered as 'Model GK'.

It is a highly desirable and valuable piece. Many dedicated aficionados of der Mannlicher Schoenauer may be found on NitroExpress which has a dedicated Mannlicher forum. AfricaHunting also has many fans of the MS.

Referring to any other rifle as a 'Mannlicher' just because it sits on a full stock is like calling this a Rolls Royce:

That is kind of funny, because this Volkswagen is what they now call a Bentley…

Well, it gets good MPG. It does go from Berlin to Warsaw in one tank!

Sirhr

PS I have one of those JC Whitney “turn your VW into a Rolls-Royce kit if anyone wants a deal. Probably the last “never assembled” one on the planet. All you need is a donor Bug! PM me… no lowballs. I know what I have.

That should sell well at the right venue.

Perhaps do a YouTube video of it or hire someone to list it on YT. Surely there are also websites for VW fanatics that would love to be the first to 'feature' it, then mention that it's for sale to highest bidder.

I remember J.C. Whitney well. I'm a Willys Jeep guy, myself.
