Man, I don't think I will be able to participate this month... I am out of town for two weeks and have been focusing my trips to the range on Smack the Smiley.

I might be able to squeeze in a 100 yard prone shoot. Will see. I love these comps!

Okay, first time shooting in the rimfire comp. Pretty good day for shooting, sunny, about a ten knot wind from behind. Shot just the 100 yard bench matches today.

Nice shooting Curtis. I'm going to slip out this Saturday and Sunday and do some shooting for the November Matches. Deer season starts Saturday, but I volunteered to help run the range over this weekend for those wanting to zero/re-zero.

May just as well take the .22 with me and shoot some SH competition. I'll start hunting Monday.

I managed to get a range trip in to shoot these, but I did not get to take pictures. This is my best outing yet with 200 yards practice or match... I am pretty jazzed to get the targets up! I will need to step up my 100 yard game if I want to stay competitive. Everyone seems to be knocking on my door and my scores have only gone down since the start of these comps.

Maybe a recrown by TP?

you are still the man we're chasing, the recrown is a half ass poke and hope job that actually worked for me, something i don't think i would do to anyone else's rifle, that's for sure. although i may try it on something i have lying around just to see if it will work on it too. only takes 10 minutes.

if mine shot like your 40x, i wouldn't let anyone (or myself) touch it.

I'd rather be lucky than good. I have had times when I thought I had done well only to walk up to the targets and see some shots in the 8 and 9 rings that I couldn't see from 200 yards away.

One of those targets is beautiful. 4/10 in the X ring!

Nice shooting, Scott. When I find a cheap enough scope, I will mount it to my Marlin 917VS and give it a try.

I am also interested to see your results at 200 yards. You should be able to kick everyone's butts!

Thanks Carter! I'd like my next match to be 200 yards. The wind hates that tiny 17 cal bullet though. But I'm workin on it.

The Marlin 917 is awesome and I'm sure you'll be pleased when you give yours glasses.

I need to mention that there is no catagory to my knowledge for the following;

Very true. I'm working on 200 yards. I'm a decent shot, but I haven't gotten anything respectable enough for me yet to post for competition. It's tough at 200 yards to know if it was your aim or the wind that pegged that spot on the paper. So it takes a lot longer for me to dial that scope in perfectly. I'd kinda like to get a perfect score and increase my x hits at 100 first.

The site says that for the A21 targets, the black section is 12". Can anybody tell me how big just the 9 point ring is?

X Ring is 2" diameter, 10 ring is 4" across, 9 ring measures 8", and 8 ring measures 12". The site is right as the black section includes the 8 ring.

O.K. My first try at the monthly match. I have mostly been testing ammo at 50 yards with my Model Five "Rem-fire".
So I ordered targets from the recommended site for the monthly matches. But the huge aiming black is a PITA to see bullet strikes. I notice TP has a target with black scoring rings, and only the X or the 10 is solid black.
Any infor on that would be appreciated.

Weight sorting the ammo may have helped as the two missed were low and noticeably out of the group.
I also had one quite high, and two pretty low on the TQ-4.

I also set up a 200 yard target but only got 10 shots before losing light; only a 90.1X out of that.

No problem Steve. If you over-lay that target with a 5x7 sheet of paper, centering it, it should give you a good read, and perhaps be the exact score that was reported? Never know?

participation was at it's height in november. with weather and hunting seasons setting in, it was nice to see the regulars along with some new shooters....
