Is there any experienced users that can give a brief comparison of these two units. I have used the D-740 gen 3 autogated and the image IMO is fantastic. I am thinking an equivalent D-930 would be nice to alliviate removal of my scope. I have seem some complaints about the mounting of the D-930; however, with the picatinny rail section beneath the D-930, it seems someone can machine a secondary mount.

Any feedback would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Re: NV Comparison D-740 vs D-930

I have a ITT tube D-740 used it for several years like you its been a real work horse of a scope never had any issues with it and it has held POI pefect even after tons of shooting. I have looked at the D-930 and PMed several owners of this system over the last year they all seem to like the system overall.I have heard that most people seem to like to rail mount it vs the direct scope attachment. Overall I tend to like a true NV scope for my use vs a clip on but thats just do to my style of hunting alot of guys love the clip ons as the can go day or night same scope same setup. I setup "night time only" rifles so haveing a fixed NV scope isn't a big deal.

dbransco,

The D-930 will perform well at lower magnifications, I used one in very poor conditions with a USO SN-3 up to 6-8 and it performed well. The mount holds well but is a bit of a pain to get on and off sometimes on some scopes.

For what the unit costs it is worth using as long as you realize you are limited in your magnification. We did some low round count bore sight alignment testing and it was sub MOA and repeatable.

Hope that helps
