Re: NXS or Valdada IOR ???
Well put, and thank you for the kind words.
I've been seeing these threads with the same subject line for almost 7 years now and NXS is going to win "here" every time. Nevertheless, Val has never let the grass grow under his feet and has worked real hard with the guys overseas to constantly refine and improve their product. Compared to 7 years ago, the current 2010 manufactured IOR scopes are light years ahead in every aspect imaginable. The customer service has positively evolved during the same time frame. Things move fast and change fast in this field and the biggest challenge for all is calling the current weather.
Another reality is that Val has been doing this for roughly 20 years and if his product was truly as bad as some might want you to think it would seem to me that he would be sued out of existence or starved out via lack of business. I can assure you this is not the case. Why? Maybe because as long as I've been doing this, Val has warranted every single IOR scope LO has sold with a new one to the customer. Or maybe because there are thousands of happy IOR purchasers. Just sayin'
Yes, the original 3-18x42 FFP was a nightmare after all the hard work and excitement to bring this scope to market but we "owned up" to it and the fact is the scope has "arrived" in its newest "Gen 4" form and the new cousins that have followed are really, really impressive in design and execution.
Right now, with the product and data I have, the IOR is very, very tough to beat for those looking for feature packed long range optics at a very fair price. NXS has an enviable track record as a tactical optic leader but as we approach 2011 the serious long range shooter has many options now, unlike just a few years ago.
Just my .02

First when you say 3x18 IOR everyone brings up the x42. the x42 did have some problems, but if you notice, anyone that had a problem was taken care of by IOR.
so this shows a good history of customer service (not to say that NFs' service is crap)
second the x50 is NOT the x42. everyone that has a x50 LOVES it. just as a 77 pinto is not the same as a '10 fusion. to me this shows again IOR's customers service, they listen to the customer and do what is needed to make it in the market.
as most can see it is hard to build a reputation, but easy to let it fall. I believe IOR has made leaps and bounds in quality.
Also, if you read the forums and reviews. 99% will say that IORs' glass is great, better than most and equal to the top dogs. their mechanics WHERE the problem and that seems to be address 100%
Last is Scott at Liberty Optics. His reputation is AWESOME, again hard to build but easy to burn, so he must be doing something right. I like to deal with people that come Highly recommended (not just company but people)
