OCW 30-06 208 Amax H4350 Opinions

Hello,

Looking for opinions on the following target as to where you think the optimum charge weight is going to be.

Gun is a Remington 721 trued in a Manners T5A. 26" M40 contour barrel. SWFA SS 5-20x50 scope. Seekins base and rings

Using: 208 Amax. Remington Brass. H4350. CCI primers. .020 from lands.

Charge weights 52.7, 53, 53.3, 53.6, 53.9, 54.2

I think the OCW is going to be 53.3 What do you think?

53.3 looks pretty good... re-test to be sure...

This is actually my second test using the same charge weights with the results being very similar. I shot the first thanksgiving day and this today.

I lost my first target friday showing the guys at work.

should i load 53.2 53.3 53.4 and try at 300yds?

Yes... you could bracket the 53.3 grain area at longer range to be sure.

You've marked more than a couple of shots as "pulls"... is this a new build? Or is it too much recoil? A clamp on muzzle brake might really help, if that's an issue...

gun weighs about 18lbs if my scale is on so there isnt much recoil.

the pulls are more me still trying to relearn the fundamentals.

did not shoot much this summer between work and trying to kick lyme,s disease.

maybe i will retest tomorrow to be safe.

10-4... I was just wondering, and not trying to be disrespectful. I'm sure you'll get the hang of the rifle, it sounds like a great long range gun, for sure, and the 208 AMAX is a long range bullet to be reckoned with, for sure.
