I placed my "official" order on Feb 5th with Metal Gear Sales (cmdecker here on the hide). They had already paid for and ordered the rifle though - I believe pre Shot Show.

Rifle came today (7/18)!!

Ordered mine about March 1st from a local dealer, who had 2 others on order prior. No news on any of these yet, but great looking mods with cheek rest and butt spike and cleaner lighter forend. Looks like what I ordered-Tan and black combo with 22 inch 308 barrel. Have the Atlas bipod and scope ready to go. Plan to pre order the 338 conversion from Eurooptic next week. I should then be good to go for the next few years of shooting!!!

Anyone got a Gen 1 barrel extension they want to sell?

My SRS does not have a monopod. If I get my rifle painted and later get a monopod would I have to get the new skins painted to match or could I modify my current skin to work with the monopod?

On the gen 1 rifles at least, the monopod uses different skins because the buttplate latch is different between them. I'm not sure of Gen2 or A1 stuff. My guess is that you will need to have new skins painted up if you get the monopod setup.

As far as I know the butt plate mounting is the same on all a1's so the only difference should be the hole for the mono pod and a Dremel might be able to solve that.

For those of you with 6.5x47L conversions: try CCI 450 primers if you haven't already.

I've been struggling to finesse a load down to a point where I'm happy, knowing what the rifle and cartridge are capable of. A simple switch from GM205M (my go to small rifle primer) to CCI 450 SR Magnum gave me low single digit SD and groups just collapsed into a ragged hole!

Can anyone give me an idea of elevation adjustment to get my group close to center if my scope is correctly sighted in for .338LM right now?

My .308WIN conversion is 1 mil UP from my .338LM, but yours may be different. Most conversions require some offset in both elevation and windage, but never more than a mil in either direction.

Realistically you are looking at a year for the chassis the way it's been looking, orders placed at the first of the year are just getting filled. I think it would be well worth the wait if you are patient.

Quick question for Gen 1 SRS users. I have Gen 1 with a 308, 338 Lapua and 6.5 Creemoor barrel. the 308 and 6.5 shoot within 2 or 3 clicks of each other at 100 yards. I haven't shot the 338 in a while and my early notes had it shooting 9 clicks low. The last time it wasn't even on paper and today it took me 136 clicks of elevation to get near center and 57 clicks right. It shoots a good group but what would make it suddenly shift so far. No, I didn't drop the barrel. I did swap out the stock brake for a TB to go with the suppressor but there is no evidence of a bullet strike on the brake of can.

I use the exact same sequence for changing barrels, no dings, dents or loose parts I can see.

I'm befuddled. Any ideas to try appreciated.

PS I will shoot it without the brake next time to the range just to see if it has any impact.

SAC can probably set you up with the Extension and 300 win mag barrel. Eurooptic sometimes has the mag in stock. You may want to call DTA directly for the bolt and mag.

The way I look at it is, I'm already spending 4K on the gun so I want the best barrel/maker possible. I don't want the risk that it won't shoot 1/2 MoA

Exactly.....you will not get a more accurate barrel than a factory DTA. While they might provide a 1/2 minute guarantee........1/4 MOA with good ammo is more probable.

That's why I went with SAC for my .338 LM barrel. I wanted a longer barrel, faster twist, and Fat Bastard with 5/8x24 threading. Otherwise, I'd have been happy to go with a factory barrel...even happier to get one of Mark's demo barrels on the cheap.

I think that their AMR fine dots probably strike the right balance between Horus' fine line gradations and 'bare bones' mildot (that the tough guys insist is all they need). Smart that their numbering replaces, rather than accompanies, dots. I suspect I would like the AMR's fine floating illuminated circle even more that Horus H59's floating dots.

How about bringing the Kahles 312 to market with an illuminated AMR reticle?

And didn't the Wall Street Journal leak that DTA's next platform will be a 6-pound (after scope) full-rail SRS-Micro for .223, 6.5 Grendel, 6.8 SPC II, .300 BLK, and 7.62x39?

And then a DTA rimfire trainer à la Sako Quad?

I would rather have a .223 conversion in my current DTA, the main reason i purchased my DTA is to replace all my rifles (except for my CZ .22) I know SAC is working on one, and no disrespect to DTA, but another platform, no thanks.

well the dta micro might be good for coyotes, suppressed close range engagements for law enforcement, able to use ammo from your ar/m4 variant ak or even just a big game rifle. (deer, antelope, small big game with the right shot placement) the 22lr might be obsolete, the 22lr seems obsolete since your spending a lot of money on a 22lr for training seems like like your not really saving money, if it came in 22mag, 17hmr, 17mach 2, 17wsm it may seem better but still its like it would have been better to buy a target 22lr rather than this. Basically the micro has some potential, but the rimfire trainer seems like kinda a waste if its like over 2000. P.S the micro would be a cool coyote gun if its compact light, and has great accuracy

Our Grendel AR is good for hitting IPSC steel at 1,000 meters. I am sure that an SRS-Micro can equal that and have the versatility of .223, 6.8 SPC II, .300 BLK, and 7.62x39. We too are awaiting Mark's SAC conversion kit (He built our Grendel), BUT that will still end up in a 12½ pound rifle (scoped).

Also, I would not propose a $2,000 price for the DTA Rimfire. A factory Sako Quad with with 1 barrel is about $1,100 and with all 4 rimfire barrels is about $1,900. http://www.eurooptic.com/sako-quad-rifles.aspx

Take you best guess on the MV and get a "starter"dope chart on GSEVEN.com's web sight ballistic program. Shoot on paper out as far as you can (7-800 yrds) go back to the website and enter your true point of impact data and the computer algorithm will compute your true muzzle velocity and generate a complete printable dope chart. I have used it on several weapons out to 1300 yards and found it to be remarkably accurate once trued. Other programs work the same. This one is free and will keep your data for different loads, guns and altitude densities.

Not completely sure, as I shoot the 175s. Wish I could help out more and give you some exact numbers, but FWIW I'd start with 2650 fps...

If you are running "Shooter" or "Ballistic" ballistic programs, they'll let you 'true' your dope (i.e correct your MV) once you know your actual drops out at a few distances.

Cox, I sent ya a PM with one of my old drop charts that I used with my 22" 308 DTA conversion. Hope that helps...
