On this Thanksgiving

Just wanted to recognize all that I have been given. The Lord truly does work miracles. If you would have told me 7 years ago when I got out of the army I would have family, 2 college degrees (rare in my family), and a decent job and be 9 years sober...I would have told you it's not possible.

Yet here I am. As I contemplate the current state of our country and my own life, I am reminded that He has brought me through challenges I thought were insurmountable and He can help guide us through the ugliness that our society continues to disintegrate into.

I am grateful for my family and the things my young kids continue to teach me about myself everyday. For an awesome wife...I am still not sure what she sees in me but she takes both the bad and good and has helped me become a better man than I was..

I am greatful for friends who make shooting that much more fun and the smack talking that never gets old. @kocustoms ... @Mr. F ( it's cool even though you blew up my Dillon)

And lastly thanks for keeping me learning and entertained Hide... This jalepeno popper is for you.

On one hand.. just a number and another day. On the other hand the most miraculous day of our lives when we were touched be the divine grace of a loving God. Often unbeknownst to us at the time, the day our lives unaccountably transformed, often times 180 degree turn from the downward spiral we were headed. AMAZING GRACE

I love this thread, and there IS a great deal to be thankful for, and I applaud the personal initiative of each of you have shed the burden of alcohol... it is a curse when it becomes food...

But, I will take exception to one element of your statement, Husky.... God, helps those who help themselves... I am a God fearing man, and always have been... I do however know my own responsibilities to myself and mine.... there have been many God fearing nations that fell to the might of Tyrants, and God did not save them... Why would we be different than them? He (or she, depending on your point of view), will lend a hand when we stand as he said...

Congratulations on all of your guy’s sobriety. I am truly happy that you’ve crossed that threshold and stayed on the right side of your journey, and humble enough to know it wasn’t without the help of our God Almighty.

Let me just say that if y’all would have started drinking at 9, you could have been sober by the time you were old enough to legally go to the bar. I’ve been sober for 32 years now. I think God for the angel he sent to me to pull be out of the spiral I was in. Oh, and yes, that angel and I have been together for 32 years as well.
