I have a lot of respect for her and her family based upon what I have seen. I believe America would benefit greatly by having more families like hers.
The family has great work ethics. A lot of local respect.
You can tell they are driven in many aspects.
Their kids are well behaved and don't blink much when work is required.
I would love to have them as neighbors.
Hell.... After seeing the show every week for a while now, my wife and I think that we wouldn't mind moving there one of these years.

The only thing a stray bullet will hit is a few bugs asses, Santa Clause or maybe even Russia (Joke)..... They were in Kavik (Population "1") and they left the only resident back in her camp miles back in the opposite direction and they took a bush plane into Kavik

Here's what I saw:

Daddy's rifle was not zeroed.
Daddy had some pride riding on national TV and kept saying "shoot again" as he was convinced his rifle he gave his daughter to use was sighted in properly or at least that was his story and he was sticking to it.
Daddy's friend told Sarah his rifle was right on the money and had already taken a caribou with it.
Sarah being daddy's girl had a decision to make:
Keep shooting like Daddy was saying to do or take the "known good" and put the caribou down letting the chips fall where they may with daddy.
This doesn't sound like a real hard choice to most of us on the hide but SP had to make the right decision on the spot while dealing with some political pressure (daddy) and keeping a televised hunt under control.
I think she did quite well under the circumstances.

Wanted to point out a couple things for those of you that may not be familiar with life in AK. Not everyone can afford to charter Turbine Otters, Beavers, and Super Cubs. Somewhat expensive even with a set net site. Can relate to her father with a house full of dead shit and falling down in the tundra.
Won't comment on her politics but she did work for me once and quit.

Hanging in here. Winter has been a real bitch so far but the midwest hasn't been exactly tropical.
Troopers had to shoot a 9.5 ft brownie last week down in the village that was running through town with a pack of 8 wolves chasing it. It had gotten in a fight this summer in the village with another bear and had part of its jaw ripped off and was starving to death.
Bears should feed well next summer with all the starry eyed pilgrims Sarah attracts with her version of life in Alaska.

Glad you still have your warped sense of humor and are doing well. Went and looked at your previous posts and realized you haven't been the stranger I thought. Guess I was just oblivious to your presence and wasn't frequenting the right forums/discussions you had posted on.

I watch every AK reality/documentary I run across on NGC etc. Sure is beautifull country and sure makes me wish I could somehow drag my disabled welfare ass up to see it before it is too late. Would love to have money to fly alot of it as that is the only way to see the 'good' stuff. Your exemployee might raise the population a bit and bring you some new 'green' neighbors!!!!

Again glad to hear you are doing well and still having some excitement to keep you aware of your surroundings and not sleep walking

Winters a bitch, can't get to sleep when the suns out for 20 hours a day and can't wake up when it's dark for 20 hours a day.

When I first got to Alaska I was fortunate enough to see a lot of it and thought a lot of areas were untouched but found out otherwise. Your experience here is dependent on what you are used to. Over half of the Alaskan's are pavement pounders so anything accesible by the road system is used more. Another thing to consider here is everyone comes here for the same reasons and there is a lot higher percentage of doers. If its doable it has probably been done.
Living in a remote area results in more time spent keeping your head above water than what you see on reality shows. If I thought there was a better place I would be there. If I was to sum it up I would say nothing good comes easy and thats the way it should be even if I can't see Russia from my front step.

I've been monitoring this thread for a while...guess I'll add my $.02. I met Sarah Palin some years ago. We drove up to Wasilla, AK. to attend the Wasilla High School Hockey Booster's Gun Show. It was 0900 on a Saturday morning in mid January...the time/temp sign at the Credit Union a few blocks up the street displayed -20 degrees and there was a healthy wind out of the North. There were several Hockey Booster personnel sitting behind a folding table, just inside the door, selling tickets. One of them was a young woman wearing a "Sarah Palin for Mayor of Wasilla" button pinned to her parka. Those folks were freezing their buns every time that front door opened. Palin sold us our tickets, asked for our vote if we were Wasilla residents, and said: "Enjoy the Gun Show!". After living in Alaska for 30 years, I've been to a lot of gun shows...I have only met one other politician at a gun show...Rep. Don Young (R) (our only U.S. Representative).

I have watched Palin's political progress from mayor to governor to Vice Presidential candidate. I have found her to be Pro Second Amendment and Pro Life. Both of these issues are very important to me.

Palin did not do well in her interviews with the m.s.m. and she does come off as "whiny" in some parts of her television show.

Bottom line...I'll support a conservative, pro gun, pro life gun show booster like Palin over a liberal, socialist, anti gun, former community organizer like b.h.o any day of the week.

Just sayin.

Watched the rerun and just cannot believe she missed again tonight!!!! Think she would have learned from last week(Edit to correct, 2wks ago! In 2 wks even I could have had it dead nuts for the rerun). Geez!

I don't have a life, am incompetent and easily swayed in my morales,values, beliefs etc., with that being said I am ready to watch tonights episode. Bet that incompetent woman will run them dogs into a river or something!!!!! Damn her....I will call PETA, MSNBC, Katie Couric, Ashley Judd, Pamela Anderson and all them other 'perfect' people. Sure wished she and I both were as competent, proficient, and intelligent as some people are! Still cannot believe after 80K+ rds in my life I still missed that coyote Thursday

When I lived on the pavement I used to do all the Valley gun shows and our boy Donny was the only one I ever saw there. I remember a lot of below zero shows at the school but must of missed Sarah or it was after I moved out here.
I agree with your logic but not to impressed with the alternatives. Just watched the show tonight and a lot of people down in America must think we just charter a rotary when we want to play on a glacier. Not so much her as the portrayal of reality that implies everyday life.

Just giving you shit cause I am bored and just really love the aerial pics of your state. Can't say enough what beauty it beholds. If my disabled welfare ass could tolerate it and I had some money I would gladly spend it to see a bunch of it.

Closest I got was in '74 when I was offered a ride with a good friend and a 'maybe' job on the pipeline and chickened out at the last minute. Was young and foolish and given my upbringing not real confident on surviving that far from home. Friend had relatives and a place to live and was about 5yrs older so he had fewer worries and made a good chunk of change for himself. Although his parents and uncle(pilot) were all killed in a light plane(Bonanza) crash on their way back from seeing him somewhere in southwest AK or northwest CA. That was what made him regret his choice.

I agree with you......
I believe that she brings a lot to the table.
She's not perfect but I do not see many that have a better combination.
Most politicians are crooks, liars and theives and are greedy to boot...... I don't think she is in that ballpark.
I don't want to speak for the Alaskans (Because I can't.)but I do see the reason she quit amid the legal attacks and the untold millions that would have been spent on litigation which would have made a mess and a waste of time for many.
All that stopped when she resigned. I believe that she saved Alaskans from a huge headache even though it was disheartning and may feal like an abandonment to some.
One must realize that sometimes one must loose a battle out of many battles and regroup in order to win the war.
Just my opinion.
I may be right, I may be wrong but from an outsiders point of view thats the best that I can do.

Bell Ranger no problem! $1075 per hour dry. Got a real deal once to fly more than 3 months of our accumalated mail from the village to here because the Ranger was all ready in our area retrieving the remains of a crashed plane. 19 air miles as the Raven flies and it cost me $300 for the one way trip. It was the day after Christmas and when you haven't seen another person or mail in three months it was a bargain. I keep a 2k retainer with them for emergency's because that is the minimum to just get here. So anyone can keep a Bell Ranger in your pocket if its deep.

There's no morale fiber left in the majority of people in this country and I have to hope and pray that somewhere someone's going to step out of the box and help shift things. Not saying it's Sara Palin by any means but at least she does have some of what the powers that be need and that's good hearted morale fiber. And maybe a few like your govenor there in Arizona that will completely defy the idiots in Washington
