So the PEQ2 mounts the lowest it seems, the mount height listed for the PEQ15 is around 1.6" and the PEQ15A (DBAL) is 1.75". Having only used the PEQ2 in front of an ACOG (and living with the slight shadow at the bottom) I'm wondering how well, or if, these DBALs and PEQ15's will work in front of an ACOG (any of them) an MRO or Leupold M4 2.5-8x36 in a 1.5" mount?

Most sniper rifles and longer rifles that require these get them mounted on the side. It's the SBR's and PDW's that benefit from having them on top, however length becomes a problem, hence the question. Will it work? How well?

Any first hand experience or pictures would be great.

I will try to snap a pic of my work SBR with T2 and DBAL. I had issues with the lower Larue mount and the laser height. It occupied roughly the lower third of the optic FOV. That was with an HK height mount (from my old POF SBR). When I switched to a standard height mount for the T2, it's much better. It's more intrusive than a PEQ2 or 4, but not too bad now.

Yeah, that blows --Either the damn rifle has to be long to accommodate a PEQ2 or it has to be tall to accommodate a PEQ15/A. The BE Meyers civilian laser would be suitable but it's too damn expensive!

Guess I'll just have to shoehorn a PEQ2 on it and live with an MRO on this particular rifle. Or just stick the MeproMor on it, it's always looking for a home.

I see these rifles that have the PEQ15 mounted forward of the optic, and I'm okay with a bit of shadow at the bottom like you get with the PEQ2 and an Acog... Still totally useable. Not okay with half my FOV blocked, which is what it looks like I'll be dealing with. I don't like optics mounted much higher than 1.5" rail-to-center, on AR's anyway.

Fuck, back to the drawing board. Wish I had the shop gear to make my own solution.

May say fuck it and end up using X400V's in lieu of PEQ's for SBR's and PDW's.

Keep in mind Larue's 1.93" mount came about as a result of a need by an organization wanting their low power variable optics to be able to clear top mounted PEQ15s. Geissele's mounts initially were for 1.54" to allow them to line up behind CNVDs and a later addition to their line of mounts was a 1.93" at the request of end users, to again clear top mounted lasers.
