Wow! Lots of conspiracy theories flying around over here today. I expected better from the Hide. Trust me. There's no grand conspiracy to stage a mass shooting, pour fake blood on each other and go kick in some random person's door and kill them. The amount of institutional "buy-in" to accomplish something like that is huge. Think about it. You'd have to get EVERY single officer on that incident to agree to a cover up. Whether you want to believe it or not, there are tons of cops, especially the patrol guys, who swore an oath to the Constitution and will uphold that oath as long as they're still breathing. There's no kill squad that gets called in to take guys like this out so they can't tell their side of the story. I'd be willing to bet that yesterday was an average day for every one of those cops just trying to drink their coffee and clear their calls until a warrant hit went sideways. And some of you guys are sitting here looking at crappy, possibly edited video, that is short and tells you nothing and deciding that these officers are trying to cover something up because of your preconceived notions about what cops do and are like. That's as prejudiced as thinking all black people commit crimes because they're black.

Can't wait to hear how many of the injuries were blue on blue. I watched the initial hour or so of the stand off while patrol was still handling it and there was some seriously silly shit happening. It's amazing how bad their tactical training is. For example guys taking cover behind the rear of an SUV, all of them right up on it; bike cops a block and a half away, standing in a group, pistols drawn.

I don’t think they were staging anything but, by 11pm there had been 30 police who were being processed for discharging their weapons. From what you could see on video these were not well trained operators.
Clearly. The fact that it took 30 people shooting, no hits and then the guy turns himself in is pretty sad! I’m surprised there wasn’t any innocent people shot here.

These high crime areas are broken. Govt. can’t fix it, Cops can’t fix it and money can’t fix it.
Only the people that live there can fix it. Govt and cops can clean it, but the people have to keep it clean.

I agree with Trump. Dude should have never been on the streets slangin and bangin. But, if you listen to the libtards they are still blaming the guns, not the person. It’s very interesting to me that when a cop shoots someone it’s the cops fault and they are racist or whatever, but when a criminal shoots someone, including cops, it’s the guns fault. This country is sick.’
You have to realize that cops in general are a bunch of people who want to do they job for various reasons and are not typically gunslingers. Most, like the vast majority, do just enough with firearms to pass the state required minimum. Enough guys that go to SWAT teams aren't necessarily "meat eaters" on part time teams. Full time teams are more likely to have pretty squared away, well trained officers. Patrol is a mixed bag of skill levels and proficiencies.
This is true. Different areas are vastly different in training and capability. Where I’m at, everyone gets massive amounts of time training. The entire force is SWAT and they make sure that anyone can sub in anyone else’s place at any given time, which is smart. Neighboring PDs often times call our PD for assistance because of this.
Just down the road you have a podunk town paying officers $8/hr. This town can barely afford police cruisers much less what’s needed to employ a full on tac team. So, it’s definitely not fair to paint with such a large brush. And, $8 per hour is really going to put a damper on getting quality people.
With that being said, I feel like every cop should be well balanced and meet more than just a basic competency test. Why? Because their lives are on the line as well as everyone’s they are supposed to protect. When the avg Joe knows more about weapons and tactics than a trained officer, that is a problem. Maybe they should push well past a good enough proficiency mentality. Hell physical requirements need to be upheld to. I’ve seen some big city officers that were so overweight they couldn’t run half a block, much less chase a perp down. I’d be surprised if they could even exit the car with any speed.
However, as some others have mentioned the pool to get good officers is shrinking daily and I don’t blame the good candidates from looking elsewhere. It’s a super tough job and is getting harder, more scrutinized and politicized daily. Not to mention only certain places pay what I’d even remotely consider a fair wage for an officer. As a result you get a lot of people that get the job for just wanting a job and will do the bare minimum. They have no drive or interest of going above that. Then on the other side of the coin you have the young dude fresh out of school that wants to act like billy bad ass. Somewhere in between is what you want but above all you want someone with drive and compassion while being able to maintain a clear head and education. Trust me, until you’ve worn the shoes, I wouldn’t be so quick to judge.

I absolutely agree with this. When I started I made it pretty clear to my wife that I would be seeking outside training regularly. Sadly, very few cops are willing to pony up the cash for this, but I see it as a basic survival necessity. Most cops in my area aren't willing to put up the cash for a pistol light much less their own training. It's hard to invest in something that you can't hold in your hand.
