I wasn't sure whether to post here or the semi-auto forum, but figured this would be the best shot. I did a search of the semi auto and suppressor forums here - kinda quick, but was wondering if there was a suppressor out there that directly screws on to the POF 308 20" (2009 model if that matters) in place of the flash hider?
I heard that screw on suppressors tend to keep the same accuracy (or same point shift) when taking them on or off vs. the QD ones. Either way, just looking for one that actually fits without having to do anything to the existing threads etc...

Re: POF 308 suppressor

I run a YHM Phantom on mine that is QD. That is a big debate QD vs thread on and much to be read on here if you search it. I personally prefer the QD on my semis. It stays in place and accuracy of the indexed QD is very repeatable. You really need to do a lot of reading because there are many good choices out there. YHM is basically a good value, decent suppressor...pick up truck so to speak. There are Corvette's and Yugos out there as well. Depending on your needs and expectations you may prefer the one vs the other.

Re: POF 308 suppressor

yeah - i did start reading a bit about the QD vs screw on... poi shift etc... but i was more curious/worried that the suppressor, even though it's a standard thread and pitch... that the diameter might be wrong, and would have to do barrel work (i.e. maybe narrower or wider depending on the suppressor). But i'm assuming that there are quite a few that have standard diameters to fit the POF's standard muzzle break diameter. (which is probably standard for alot of rifles).

Re: POF 308 suppressor

yeah - i know... right! i'm actually doing research for a buddy in colorado, and another in WI. They aren't members, but i told them i'd ask the members. I really hate wearing plugs. i wish MN would allow suppressors.

Re: POF 308 suppressor

I use a TBAC 30P-1 on my POF 308 all the time and it works fantastic, the I take it off and use it on my .308 bolt gun. If you go with TBAC you won't be disappointed.

yeah - that looks nice!

Re: POF 308 suppressor

Run a SWR Omega 30 and a Thunderbeast 30P-1 on my POF .308. Both thread on and off easily. The Thunderbeast is lighter (titanium) and has less point-of-impact shift. Both are quality cans but would recommend the Thunderbeast. Talk to Raydog if you have any questions; he's been very helpful to me in the past.

Re: POF 308 suppressor

Hey thanks for all the input, as i said, i'm new the suppressors and didn't know much about the attaching other than QD and threaded... it's nice that there's standards out there for these (as i figured) and also, some good info on POI shift too...

thanks again guys!

SRT Shadow XL, regular screw on, I compared it to the Omega 300, my perception was that the Shadow was a teeny bit quieter. It's staggerinly quiet on my bolt gun too....
