As we are on this topic, the wife and I never had children "of our own" so we adopted "from the system". My boy came to us at 7....and some of the stories he had.....well lets just say he made the news for a story about duct tape.
We made (wife and I) the decision if we do this someone is going to be home with the kiddo. He was not going to be a latch key kid like I was.....after all look how I turned out.
So we got our son when we hit our 30's. Midstream in our lives and she landed a gig that let her work from home, so common now, not 20 years ago. My son just got married last month. They are so cute....just makes me smile.
The stories I could tell about adopting "from the system".
I can't remember, this was roughly 10 years ago, but I think so. They did some tests and said no big deal. He is built low and thick. Not fat, just roughly 5'5" and as hard as a fire plug....nothing but muscle. He was doing weights heavy then and it took that Dr to get him to ease up on all that junk. If he wanted to do that ok, but your body is still growing and don't eat that powder crap. Do it naturally, so we did. Luckly like most phases it passed.

That is what they did to him, first thing the checked was the wedding tackle, turned my back to give the little dude some space. Everything ok there so they said (again old man memory) a fatty build up, but they hit him with a pile of tests. Happy it was "just a thing". He was pretty upset about it in high school....you know how kids are and him having one boob did not go over real well, and as I said he is a strong little fucker and did not take any shit so one or two trips for punching someone was all it took to get kids to back off.
Now in his 20's he has filled out a little more, not quite so lean, he does still workout but not like he did when he had all the time in the world.
I know it is not popular, but it is the truth.....these people have huge mental issues.....HUGE. If you can get yourself to be like the photo outside of a holloween party then taking something that does not belong to you is a baby step. And with those issues and the general "unhappyness" that they all seem to have, pulling a trigger on themselves or others is also a baby step sad to say.
Another reason you need your head on a swivel in public anymore.

Competition for resources. They all eat the same things. In urban areas this is why coyotes kill dogs. Bigger dogs are in the same business they are in, and need to be run off. Little dogs are in the same group, as well, but can also cross into the food area. When you have wolf coyote and fox in one "range" the "lesser" predators do their best to stay clear of the higher. We have fox and coyote in our "yard", you never see them at the same time however.
I spent some time looking there is an old but very good "talk" put out by Colorado on the urban coyote.....and its spot in the food chain, it covers your statement very well and why they kill foxes. All three of those animals will eat anything, not just meat, anything.....they all do the same thing.
With luck they'll handle this the appropriate way when he's behind bars. Hopefully it will be excruciating and involve the loss of body parts...

I don't know about that, it does have its issues and there are people that take advantage of it (foster) but I can't think of one "worker" that was not fantastic.....over worked and over loaded yup, but shady....nope.

Driving is a privilege, not a right. Fuck up like that, should be a permanent driver's license revocation. All of the necessary knowledge to conduct one's self in a safe manner is taught in driving education and there is NO fucking reason whatsoever for anyone behind the wheel of a vehicle to be impaired by a substance that they know will affect their ability to drive safely. Driving safely is already a major responsibility and making sure that I conduct myself in every manner to ensure that I, and others sharing the road with me, can get to everyone's destination safely, takes up all mental focus while on the road. I shouldn't have to have the lingering fear of a drunk or high motherfucker going the wrong way, swerving into my lane, and pulverizing me and two others behind me to atoms. Blow hot on a stop once, lose the fucking license forever. Better a fuckhead is kept off the road before they eventually kill somebody.

We did a thing for DARE, where we with different EMS as well as Life Flight would do a "fake" DUI scene. Everyone knew it was all play acting, and it did serve a few things. Training for all the first responders, a lesson to kiddo's, and lastly a wakeup call to some parents. I can't think of one time where the parents did not bust down sobbing....and their kid was standing in the next room.....it was that powerful.

I have seen a teacher who reported abuse [bruises}. Have their names given to the people they reported. The people claimed the teacher made the bruises. CPS helped the people go after the teacher for abuse.
Colorado made it illegal to investigate child abuse inside the CPS system last year. Why would they do that? Probably the same reason they made it illegal to audit elections. Huh...

Problem with that is only 30% of fatal crashes have "drugs or alcohol involved." What percent of those under the influence are not at fault we don't know, because they ascribe blame to the person under the influence even if someone else were to run a read light and hit them.
What we have with DUIs is an entire industry and punishment system based on what happens the smallest percentage of time. Charge people for what happened. Don't fall for the games they play with statistics. 10,000 peopler year are killed in "drug and alcohol related" crashes, but i would bet you money if everyone stopped drinking tomorrow. The amount of traffic fatalities would not drop significantly.
For this we arrest 1.5 million people per year. Take their freedom, they pay fines, do classes, loose their license, and often their job in the process. You get mandatory jail time, and three times in your lifetime in some states is a felony with mandatory prison time. If you drink, get a cheap breathalyzer see how you feel at .08 or .06 like a lot of states, and tell me if you think its all worth it.
Now the question is, what should we do about the people causing the majority {60%} of fatal crashes in this country.....Sober people....
'Peaceful protests' have NEVER achieved anything in history, ever. The only reason why the British relented in India after Mahatma Gandhi's peaceful campaign was because the Irish Republican Army started going balls out killing British police and soldiers back on the Isles and they desperately needed manpower back home.
ETA: When the state is clearly unmoved by your requests and they are not only doubling down but clearly announcing their intent to physically harm you, and you STILL do not resort to violent and lethal action, we are simply going to assume that you are either too stupid or too cowardly to have freedom and you do not deserve any. Winners do not sit around and hope and wait for something. They make decisions and take pragmatic actions to achieve their goals.

I can't speak to colorado, but missouri. And again different offices are run by different people with very little general oversight, that I will grant you. I will say the folk in missouri that I came across are good people. Having actually adopted a kid I have been down the road including un announced welfare visits. The people at least around here did care about the kids, and my kid with the duct tape incident people did go to jail over that one. Around that time we also had a kiddie porn couple go to jail. But in the KC mo area is likely very different from the STL area, and adopting a kid from another state is just a huge pain in the ass. To tell the truth the wife and I learned first hand why so many people adopt kids from other countries.....it is so much more easy. Also the thing that seemed strange is the entire process did not cost us one thin dime, nothing. In fact the state paid us till he hit 18, as he was an "at risk" kid due to his age at the time of adoption. Sad it works that way there, you say you work with the kids, then fix the problem.
As you are in this area, back then they had these things called "adoption fairs", it has to be the single most horrid thing I have ever seen in my life. The setting is like a small county fair with games and animals for the kids, and all these vultures around the kids like picking out the thanksgiving turkey. I remember to this day, two kids, guessing 4-6 years old, young. Blonde hair blue eyes and every single "adult" hovering them it was just sick. the older kids roughly 10 to 17 know just what is going on, it is a meat show. They "looked after" the little kids and basically sat it out. I talked to these kids and learned quite a deal. One boy was due to age out of the system was a real gear head, and I liked him, I was racing at that time and we talked quite a bit, I really did not "want" (god that sounds horrid) a kid that old, but our interests lined up well a kid that old and asked him if he wanted to come to my house.....not really, he is getting out (his words) in a few months and was going to go into the marines......good on you, just makes me so sad even now thinking about it.
We got our son with a call from our worker, we think this boy would be a fit for you, so we went to see him. He was in tears when we had to leave, the stress these little people have in their life is so far off the chart it is insane. His foster had like 6 kids, three boys in bunk beds and three girls in another room, at roughly 1800 from the state per month they had quite the little business. It got shut down after I said a thing or two about how things seemed to me went in that house......why are these monsters always so fucking fat.

They have them at schools all over the country. So, actually I have been to several.
An ex GF of mine was adopted at 14 yo, after living in an orphanage for 6 years. The social services here in CA totally screwed up. Adoptee father was molesting all four of his natural daughters, and when he got one that was not his own, that was even better. First time I met "her parents" I knew something was very weird. How could professional social service workers not see something was up? Father was a lot like Harvey Weinstein, fat and gross. Her "sisters" obviously had something going on. Anyways, my ex would have been better off living in the orphanage a few more years, would have left her with less scars. So much anger in that woman, it was always under the skin.
