Buy more mags. All the ammo that should have already been bought needs to be stuffed into mags. It sucks to be needing a full mag and all you have is boxes of bullets.
I just finished reading this book:
In this book it talks about him and his crew getting shot down in the bad side of town. He had a couple of engineers on board, crew chief, gunner and copilot. They "land" and looking them in the face is a bunch of VC doing their laundry. They looked at each other for several sec trying to put 2+2 together, then they bail and start shooting at each other. The crew had weapons, but pilots only carry a 38 revolver. This pilot got a gift of an M2 carbine and always flew with that. He had a bandoleer of ammo he kept with it.
Things are getting sporty he sees a guy trying to run around to the side and he dumps a clip into the one guy.
He only has one mag.
Now everyone else is shooting and he is reloading his one mag.
They make it out.
I told that story because of your mag reference. I don't remember in the book but I have a feeling he carried more mags after that.
I don't shoot my AR very much, I see it as a bit of a toaster, just appliance. I can hit what I point it at, and that is about it. Comes out about every 3 years to make sure it shoots. Then in the safe it goes.
Someone gave me one of those new fangled PMags a while ago, never even took it out of the package. Figured today is the day to shoot it. Up to that point only GI mags I used. I sit down there on my bench and start loading this fucking Pmag.....god this sucks and will never end. Now I understand all those speed loader gizmos, this sucks. Loading a 5-20 round GI style mag is no big deal, that pmag just sucks.
Gun came with 2 5 round mags, bought it way back in the 90's when they wanted to take them away from us then. Up to that point it was the most expensive gun I owned.
