Powder IN-STOCK thread

Is accurate 4064 interchangeable with IMR?
Not really. AA4064 was made to compete with IMRs version (before they were owned by the same folks). AA4064's burn rate is slightly slower and as stated before, folks find they need more of it to match IMR4064 velocities. Most folks found they also had pressure signs with AA when they did not with IMR. As also previously stated, work up charges when switching powders. You should even do so when switching LOTS of the same powder.

As previously mentioned Powder Valley has powder in stock...

AA 4064, AA 4350, AA MagPro in 1# and 8# quantities.

AA 2200 in 8# jugs.

Alliant PP 4000 MR in 8# jugs... I've bought 2 jugs over the last 2 weeks.

Alliant 1200-R in 8# jugs.

Hodgdon H 380 and LeverEvolution in 1# jugs.

IMR 4198 in 1# jugs

IMR 4955 in 8# jugs.

IMR 7828 SSC in both 1# and 8# jugs.

Ramshot Hunter & LRT in 8# jugs.

*Shooter's World 50 BMG in 1# & 8# jugs.

Viht 20N29 in 1# jugs.

*Shooter's World 50 BMG is also available from other retailers online.

(There isn't a lot of reloading info available for Power Pro 4000 MR, but it has performed decently in one of my 300 WM's with 190 SMK's. But the 190's are harder to find than powder right now)

Bullshit, that's just an example of a company gouging. $90 per 1k, with only 1k allowed so you get brutalized on the hazmat, is Midway's choice, not Biden. The blame game is comical to watch.

To get this back on track, Accurate #11FS 1lb in stock at Powder Valley.
this is inflation you don't think the fucking trillions printed over covid has nothing to do with the price of anything. fuck the price of everything is high Jesus Christ look at the price of lumber, gas, food, vehicles, houses and on and on I go. Is everyone gouging? If you don't want to pay what they are asking don't bitch about it like every other whiney bitch who thinks life not fair. Look the other way don't buy the product. but still
Joe Bidens America. we can still be friends...

Thanks for posting. I will be ok now for a few more months. I was getting desperate for some primers and am so f’n’ pissed off at the local gougers charging $200 a tray. Hazmat sucks... still the fact they are out to Midway now hopefully means the supply is starting to trickle back in.

I just checked several sites and no one seems to have powders or primers currently.

More or less, I'm tagging this post to participate and get notifications.

I am thinking about gluing strike anywhere match heads into my primer pockets since I can not find any primers.....

FWIW, it seems like Midway has adjusted how they are stocking powder/primers. In the last week I've twice gotten notifications for items being newly in-stock, yet not visible on the website if I searched (I was still able to purchase as long as I clicked the link in the email). This lasted for about 30 mins or so. So the point being that it seems they are giving people who mark items for notification first crack at them before they go public. This was true of some CCI primers and some VV powder.

i think this prices are because everybody stopped working because of pandemic. and there was no demand for this stuff.

now everything is working, and everybody want everything. but manufacturing is slowly turning on, but demand is huge. and that's why shortage and price spikes.

because pandemic and stopped manufacturing.

Production has never been higher from manufacturers. The reason for pricing is almost all due to demand. All retailers are stretched thin due to everyone buying. Retailers are thus getting less supply than normal, but still have the same operating costs. No one stopped buying components during covid. This shortage has been going on almost the entire time covid has been a thing.

For a very simple explanation:

Say on a normal month you sell 8 jugs of varget for $200 each or $1600 total.
Now, you can only get 6 jugs per month. You still need to make $1600. And if you don't have something else that's selling that you can make up that $400 deficit...guess what? You now have to sell the jugs of varget for $267.

The only ones I know are interchangeable are Win296 and H110, and Win231 and Hodgden Universal.
Winchester 231 is not interchangeable with Hodgdon Universal. It's interchangeable with Hodgdon HP38.

The loads listed in Hodgdon's reloading data center for W231 and HP38 are identical. Not so with W231 and Universal.

I had the same problem with 144LRs. What helped was bookmarking the pages for them (in whatever quantities available) from all of the usual suspects, and then looking for smaller mom-n-pop operations and doing the same. I placed them all in a bookmark folder and then whenever I had a chance I would right-click (Chrome) to open them all and check them that way. It took a few months but I got lucky one morning a while back. Also, joining the Reloading Discord channel is helpful - just mute everything but the In-Stock Notifications. Got primers that way recently.

Good luck

Start boycotting due to prices. It's one thing to raise a couple bucks for profit, it's another to rape your customers based on demand. Even when supplies weren't low, prices were being jacked up because they knew people would pay anything due to fear. I get it, maximize profits. But at the expense of customers, some of whom have been keeping these brick and mortar stores in business for years despite lower online prices is complete bullshit. I love reloading, I love shooting, and I don't consider myself a poor dude, but these businesses are draining the hobby I and all of us love.

Nothing to do with socialism brother. I'm all for free market, that's what we are about. What I'm not about is being taken advantage of based on fear. We as consumers need to take a stand at some point. You can't say current prices are justified. Manufacturing costs haven't gone up to warrant over 100, in some cases 400% increases.
Case in point, in the late 90s gas prices were out of control based on businesses knowing people needed fuel to do anything. Organized gas-outs broke businesses into fair pricing.
Businesses are going to do what is best for them, as long as the customer is willing to pay. And I can't be the only one tired of seeing these prices.

Just a caution, Beware of scam sites! I.E. Barrel Ammo Depot listed Fed 210M Large rifle primers 1000 (to trays) for $50 + $20 shipping. They have graduated from just taking Money Orders, Checks, or Bank acct Numbers – They now accept Credit card orders.

Web site shows Small and Large rifle Primers (CCI & Fed) reasonably priced.

Also shows IMR 4895 & 4064, H110 & 4350, and CFE 223 available.

Repeat Do NOT bite.
