precision rifles... show em

coWSMasher: Is that a CF wrap? I've never seen a rifle like that before. It looks cool. Out of curiosity why the double set (total of 4) scope mounts?
Yeah I took and hacked up the original stock and made it in to a thumbhole and made it the shape i wanted with derabond than wrapped it in carbon, and the four scope rings is so it doesn't move i have had issues with scope slippage in the past and the simplest solution in my mind is to add more surface area between scope and rings, but if you ever decide to run more than one set make sure you lap the shit out of your rings or you can really mess things up. Oh and i know its just a 22-250 so scope slippage isn't an issue but its the scope that's going on my 6.5 WSM when it gets here. This is just a temporary home. And thank you I think it turned out pretty well.

Well kudos on a great looking stock. (And rifle.) Did you wrap it yourself? Any pointers for someone you may have now inspired? ;-)

Here is a project that I am just finishing up.

It started out as a Savage Model 16 FHSS in .243

I bought the stock from a FCP-K off of ebay, then I modified it some by changing the grip angle, adding texture with Marine Tex, adding flush cups, and a Karsten cheek rest.
The gun originally had a hinged floorplate magazine, so I ordered the stock Savage bottom metal for the DBM. I also purchased a couple 10 round magazines from Darkeagle Customs.
The stock bolt knob is replaced by the Savage tactical version.
Painted with Duracoat in GAP Camo using a Bulldog Arms stencil kit - the colors are Marsh, ACU Grey Green, and Desert Brown

Bolt fluting by Sharp Shooter Supply
24" Stainless Criterion barrel in 22-250 with 1-9" twist - Light Varmint Contour
TPS 0 MOA base
Duracoated in Tactical Black

Most of the parts were ordered through Jim at Northland Shooter Supply; a really great guy to work with.

Now I am just waiting on the optics, which will be a Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 SFP MOA

yeah i did it myself. Its not very difficult the easy way is to lay your carbon over it dry, cut it with plenty of extra than take the carbon off and set it to the side brush on a layer of resin and let it go to a tack at this point after you lay it on its not moving though so get a friend without a life to help hold it up as you lay it down. than you just brush a normal coat over the top and let it harden over night. than go back and rough it up with 120 grit and brush on another coat. it will take 3-4 coats to get the carbon texture out than sand it with 220 working your way to 600 than hit it with a buffing ball and some polishing compound on a drill. Feel free to pm me with any questions I would be happy to help. there are a ton of videos on youtube that i found very helpful. good luck hope that was helpful.
oh and practice doing it once on something else and it wont adhere to most paints it turns them in to goop.

Just received and "dressed" my new Remington 700 Cerakote Tactical 300WM 26". It's a goofy name for a rifle but it rings all my bells and toots me whistles. It is so new from Rem. that it's not in the online catalogue yet. I immediately installed a Wyatt removable box floorplate and mag, my ages old bi-pod (brand name long forgotten) Pic rail action mounts and Leupold M4 4.5-14X50 Tactical scope on Leupold rings.

Whole rig weighs in at 11.5 pounds unloaded. I must admit, the B&C copy of a M40A1 stock fits me much better than the B&C Medalist on my other rifle. Doesn't look as gnarly but to me fit is everything. Looks follow way down the line after.

101_0013.jpg101_0014.jpg101_0016.jpg101_0019.jpg101_0024.jpg

Forgot to mention, the action and fluted SS barrel are Cerakoted black, hence the rather odd name.

Later,
Viper1

beautiful rifle!
I ordered a coyote folder in 260 rem and wonder which components you use for your cartridges and how does it work in your rifle?

Lapua brass
Either Federal GM210M primers (when i can get them) or Remington 9 1/2
VV N550 41.3grs
140SMK
2780fps
1/2moa
H4831 45.7grs
142SMK
2750fps
1/2moa

One of the items i have found is the firing pin channel is rather large, so all my primers have some flow back into the firing pin channel. You can basically pierce a primer if your charge is too high, with no other indications of excessive pressure. On this rifle, VV N550 at 44gr is a no go.

Very nice.

Mine is not nearly as fancy as some in here, but it shoots better than I can. Still working on consistency, but it is at least a 3/4 MOA gun when I do my part. Too bad I can not find enough ammo to keep it fed unless I feed it cheap 147gr surplus. Remington 700 AAC in .308 in an HS Precision stock with a Mod-22 two stage trigger.

8 shots at 100yards.

4 shots at 200yards.

Also shot it at 500yards, but only on steel. Then the wife wanted to give it a try. First time at anything past 100yards for her. She shot a total of 5 rounds at a 20" piece of steel and hit 4 out of the 5. I think she may be hooked...

My squadron let me borrow the Nightforce 5.5-22 x 50 with their 1 " rings until my B.E.A.S.T. comes in. With the 50mm objective and the 1" rings it looks as though the 1" rings will be perfect with the incoming 56 mm objective.

.300 Win Mag
Manners T-4A Stock
1" 30 mm NF Rings
5.5-22 x 50 NF with NP-R2 reticle and .25 MOA Adjustments
20" Krieger Barrel
Stiller Fluted Chimera Action
Timney Trigger @ 2.5 lbs
Atlas V8.1 Bipod
AICS Mag

Hi everybody! New to the forums and thought I'd throw up a few pictures of what I am running.

Definitely not a "precision rifle" but its a blast to shoot steel at 500 with. Remington 700 ADL .30-06. It will soon my the start of my heavy-barreled target rifle as soon as I can get a hold of a Criterion Rem/Age Barrel and MCS-T Stock!

Next is my Remington 700 ADL Varmint in .223 that I got during the Dick's holiday special for $350! Will soon be sold to fund the above project! Anyways, custom painted stock, SWFA SS10x42, and VERY accurate with my 52gr Sierra BT-HP loads.

Why sell the Dicks special? I have one in 308, and it's actually a pretty sweet rifle. If you still have it, and still want to sell it, hit me up, and I'll make an offer for the rifle only. I need one in 223 as a practice rig :)
p.s. I threw most of my factory parts away (except bolt/action and bbl).

just got the PST and got everything together. unfortunately all the recommendations i saw to go straight seekins low on this site yielded not enough clearance for butler creeks. so i don't even know if it's worth going to shoot until i can get some higher rings. :\

For some reason the paint insists on photgraphing as blue tints but it is actually tans/greens/browns

Lot of really good looking rifles in this thread - I have a soft spot for a GAP or woodland camo straight comb stock.

Here's my new addition, too delicate to be considered a tactical rifle but it's exactly what I wanted:

Action: Remington 700
Barrel: Spencer (modified LV taper @ 22")
Stock: HS Precision
Trigger: Jewell @1lb
Bottom Metal: Williams
Scope: March 3-24 illum
Base/Rings: Badger

I have already posted my rifle on here, but I recently changed the skins from FDE to O.D. green. I have also put on a new scope. The rifle is a custom Remington 700 built by Alberta Tactical Rifles out of Calgary Alberta. It sits in an AI chassis and has a Rock Creek barrel chambered in 308. The scope is a Sightron SIII 8-32x56.
