I've got several higher end sights, including an EOTech and an Aimpoint M3, but just picked up one of Primary Arm's micro-dots for a plinking/range rifle I didn't want to blow $500 on for sights.

First impression is it's pretty good, not as clear as the real thing; it has a distinct bluish tint to the glass and is a bit darker than my M3, but it's built solid and holds zero on my 223, definitely adequate for plinking or practice.

The dot's round and crisp, bright enough for noon time sun. Combat ready? probably not, but it works for what I got it for. Cost about $80.

Just thought I'd share the experience.

Re: Primary arms knockoff T1

Thanks for sharing D, Ive been looking at these for a while and the price point is awesome..

I've got a 16" barreled upper for a walking coyote killer so as far as combat ready goes it doesn't matter, last time I was hunting them they weren't shooting back.. You never know though..

I picked one up also and so far so good (~400 rounds 5.56). Going to give it a go at a Pat Rodgers class this summer but the CompM2 will be on hand just in case. Haven't put it on the G3k yet but that's the next step. I think the description on the Primary Arms website says it, but this things doesn't co-witness with me Troy BUIS. I believe the internal location of the LED (bottom) interferes with the sight picture while the T1 has the led on the side resulting in a doable co-witness.

Re: Primary arms knockoff T1

I don't have any backup irons on that gun, just a front sight post, so I can't speak to the co-witness. It does seem like the LED could get in the way though. I have it mounted far back on the rail (like where a BUIS would normally go) and find it works decently as a "ghost ring" type aperature even if the dot is off.

So far the main downside I'm seeing is that the battery life is not as good as a T1. I haven't run my batteries down yet but some reports are showing about 8 days of continuous use on a fresh battery. It's not really an issue for me personally, the batteries are pretty inexpensive and easy to find.

Re: Primary arms knockoff T1

I have two PA and a real T1...the PA does not compare to the T1, but it functions. The T1 is much brighter...I noticed that the PA just did not have a nice dot compared to my T1. The PA functions, but I wouldn't have it on my primary weapon.
