Private Messages

I have some questions:

1. When I get a private message, I get no notification at my e-mail address of record. Is this the way it's supposed to be?

2. In my notifications, it says I have several unread messages. I've read them all; what gives?

3. I sent a private message to another hide member. When I look in the "sent" folder, there is no indication I ever sent the message. Did the other member get my message?

4. Am I doing something wrong?

4. No....the problem is you're not doing anything. (I'm not attempting to be a smart ass here)
3. You have to turn that feature on...it's in your settings.
2. Click on your notifications and it will take you to your profile and take away the message saying you have unread messages. If this won't work...delete your messages after you read them (unless you need them).

Go to the tab near the top of the page for "Forum Actions"...then into "General Settings"...then make sure you have first selected to receive e-mails, then "Email Notification of New Private Messages:" and select "Receive Email Notification of new Private Messages." That'll get the first part (your #1 above). Next, go down the settings page further until you reach "<label for="cb_pmdefaultsavecopy">Sent Private Messages:</label>" and be sure to select "Save a copy of sent messages in my Sent Items folder by default." That'll get your #3 above.

As for the "unread" messages...that may be a result of the swicth-over to the new software a while back if you have not logged in for a while. Best way to handle it is to open your inbox...go up to the small check-box beside the total number of messages in your inbox...then click that box. It will highlight ALL messages in your inbox. Then, scroll down the page to the "Selected Messages" tab and click it then select "Mark Read." That should clear anything up for you with respect to your #2 above.
