Proof barrel in larue predatar 7.62

Been trying to research the crap out of this subject with no definitive answer...
Will a proof carbon barrel fit and headspace with the original larue bolt... I know proof uses DPMS extension but what about the larue...

The barrel will work but it’s hard to say if the bolt will or won’t headspace. Proof headspace with JP bolts.

Yes thanks ... the larue bolt lugs are shorter... now will the jp bolt work with a larue carrier

@808hoghunter I would love to know this too, as I want to get a Proof for my LaRue UU in 260. Did you ever figure it out?

No I decided on going a different direction and building a 6.5 grendel instead.... the larue bolts lugs are slightly shorter seems proprietary to larue barrel extensions .... mine is a complete rifle so not sure if the uu extension is different... I was advised to leave it alone since the pencil barrel shoots so good in my 308....

I’m a little late, but I swapped out my 16” Predatobr barrel for an 18“ Proof barrel. Both are 308’s. The rifle shoots great and is lighter and handier. I didn’t have any issues head spacing or cycling. The only issue I had was the barrel extension on the Proof was slightly girthier than the Larue barrel extention, so it would not slide into the upper. I had to put it in a lathe and hit it with some sand paper slightly until it slid in all the way, but still tightly.

Next time heat the upper and freeze the barrel.
