So I've been trying to get a key to one of the only ranges down here in the valley, where I can go shoot my rifles at, for about 6 months or so. They renew the membership every year and you have to a to the meeting in order to get the key. I wasn't able to go to the meeting because I was working. I've tried getting a hold of the owners and other people who might guide me on the right direction towards the key. Well finally one of my good friends dad took over the key business and he's the one issuing the key. The old fee to become a member was $40 and a $15 initiation fee (per year). Well now I've been informed its $150 for new members. My question is if its worth it or not. Im planning on going twice a week or more for that price except its only 100-200 yard range and its about 10 miles from home. I would like to hear what you guys have to say about it, if its fair or not, and how much do you all pay more or less. Its an outdoor range, bring your own targets, set them up yourself, three shooting benches and not that busy of a range.
What do you guys think?

Re: Range Price

At twice a week for a year is about $1.50/visit

you indicated twice a week or more..

I pay $18.00/visit to my public range out to 200 yds.
U have a better deal.

Re: Range Price

mine is $75 a year but it has a lot going on it has 3 separate pits for tactical pistol and 3 gun matches. a 25 yard and 50 yard range. shooting area is covered than there is the 100 200 and 300 yard range a seperat 600yd range and a 1000 yard range about 10 min from home. i live it i would easily pay 3 times that for a years worth of use..

Re: Range Price

The range I went to YEARS ago, and am going back to, is $125/year. For the most part, id be only going every other monday. BUT, that also means I wont be bothered vs going on the weekends. plus they have a 500 yard range. if i were u, id jump on it.

Your in Texas for cryin out loud. There must be a lot of ranchers who need hog thinning and they might pay you.

Re: Range Price

Yea, there's a place 35 min from me that charges steep fees like that-1,500.
I'm very fortunate to get 300 yards on my own property.

Plus you have to take a small written test or take a couple instructional classes before they let you shoot long range.

I'd say $150 is a steal, unless it's only an indoor range that goes to like 25yds or something. </div></div>

Re: Range Price

Do it! Compared to prices of other everyday things (coffee, alcohol) that's cheap as hell. I bet I spend more than $150 just getting to my range a year. So you are actually saving tons by having it that close.
