Actually, it’s above what I paid for it and I haven’t sold so...either way I’m playing the long game. I’m not trying to get in and out. However, my opinion I posted earlier still stands. It’s all bullshit. The market is fine, it’s this fabricated crisis that everyone should be pissed about.

i agree that the panic of the virus stuff is overblown. i dont agree with the crap they announced yesterday. i didnt like it when bush did it, and i dont like it now. as usual, those of us who live responsibly get the shaft again.

It is far from BS. Even the Government couldn't have seen this little unanticipated event called COVID-19. The rusted little wire that holds the cork in the badness bottle just broke and the deflation of an overpriced, low value global stock market will become evident soon enough. The Fed tried the only trick they know which is an adjustment in monetary policy. They know they have no chance to implement a sound fiscal policy due to the incredibly divisive nature of politics today. The Dems wouldn't do anything to help even if it means burning themselves down. Anything to unseat Trump who is also an economic fool.
Hang on as it will be a wild next couple of months. Businesses closing their doors, unemployment rising, millions of infected people needing helped....spicy times cometh.

We have never had a period like this ever. In 29 when the collapse of the market happened and hyperinflation hit, money was the only legal tender. Therefore, everyone had it to varying degrees. Today we live in a cashless society. Most people couldn't put their hands on $2,500 if their life depended on it.
When, or if, the banking/credit system collapses what will you do? You can't use the plastic that everyone uses. Currency has been replaced by plastic which never existed during the Great Depression. Cash will be a useful commodity along with hard assets like Gold or Silver or properly packaged lead.
There are a variety of articles that you can read to educate yourself. Thinking that today's economic meltdown will bear any resemblance to yesterday's is likely to get you in deep trouble. It is like those that think we will have a CWII. It will never happen in that manner. It will be different because people and the prevailing times are different.
Who knows we could be wrong and cash may be worthless but what harm does it do to have some at the ready. The only excuse I can come up with is that the people that believe that do so because they don't have any...

You need to talk to people who went thru the depression. To a person everyone I talked to said paper money was worthless an many would not take gold or silver either. What is printed that most are reading is nothing but a lie,... Plastic nor politically backed inked paper will be worth anything. It will be tangible only just like 29. Nothing is worth anything until someone is will to take it as trade,....nothing.

How the hell am I an idiot? You realize that if the house of cards that is the US falls the entire globe goes with us. That means any money you have won’t be worth shit. I don’t personally think the manipulators will ever let it get to that point myself, assuming you believe any of that shit, but trust me when I say if American falls the entire world will follow suit. We are the global economic machine. Does that mean the world ends? No. But it means it’s going to get super rough and it means someone else can come in and claim to be the new currency king. What that currency is and who it belongs to is anyone’s guess even tho many believe it will be the one world currency that ushers signs of the end times and all that. But who knows? The important thing to remember is that piece of paper won’t be worth crap if it got that bad. People will be trading for real tangible things. The dollar is no different than the credit card other than a different appearance. A dollar is just a piece of fancy paper and a cc is just plastic. Both represent parts of the fake financial system.

I have talked to many that went through it. Times are different and the one historical fact that you seem to overlook is the law of supply and demand. I would think hard about that. However, you're free to believe and act how you wish.

Currency is funny especially paper, someone gives you pieces of paper which everyone breaks their backs for. Gold and Diamonds which occur naturally in the earth crust . Why didn't they choose Jelly Beans as currency or the gold coins filled with chocolate, times get tough you would have something to eat at least.
Gold was a fixed priced commodity as well. Its tangible value was fixed...very different circumstances.

Believe me when I say I’m blessed. I’m not worried either but that’s not going to make it any easier on any of us if it comes crashing down.
I would suggest a lot depends on if more stuff can be purchased or not with the currency, paper or electronic.
If there is a real shortage of goods, then very quickly the actual goods become what people want to put their hands on and nothing else.
If a supply still exists and it's just much more expensive, then money will be useful.
It wouldn't hurt to hedge your bets on several fronts.

1. Any money you are planning to invest right now should be what I call throw away money. In other words, it won’t hurt you to lose it.
2. I don’t believe the market has bottomed yet. Buy where you feel comfortable if you plan to hold.
3. Invest in solid companies with a history of success.
4. Don’t freak out if you buy and then end up in the red.
I won’t give specific stocks. I’m very high risk and buying into companies that have lost 80%+ in the last 2 months. If I win, I’ll gain yugely. If I’m wrong, then those companies will go bankrupt and I’ll lose that money.
Key take away: Throw away money.
If you are looking to make cash quick, I can’t help you.
If you are looking to start a portfolio and sponge passive income off of it in 10-20 years...The best time to start is ten years ago. Second best is today.
Open a vanguard account and read up on VTI, VOO, VYM, VIG. Buy as much as you can. When you can.
Jeff Bogle has already been quoted here. But long story short, over time the market returns 4-6%. Time in the market is key. Just close your eyes and turn off the news. It will be fine.
Ok well something which might be beneficial to read up on is investment strategies if you are not set on a particular path yet. I say this simply b/c if you are at ground zero there is no better time than now to build the right foundation if you do buy in this year. Post dotcom/911 I continued to stay with large cap and growth and vacillated on changing my approach, but didn't. Post 2008 I moved to a value/dividend approach of established companies that have solid dividend histories. It also goes deeper you will learn how to understand sectors, see if they company xyz has and kind of a moat around their business, proper use of leverage etc. Trust me it's fun to learn once you dig in! Remember there is more than one way to make money with investing beyond treating a stock as an auction where you have to find someone willing to pay you more than what you paid. Monthly/quarterly dividends can generate cash flow for living or you can reinvest the them. Until this past month it was getting hard to find good entry points into dividend value, but now there are plenty of places to hunt. Just something to think about if you have not yet. Keep readin and learnin it never stops....there are plenty of dividend focused authors on SA. Sorry for typing speeling siri hates me

I would wait. No one can predict the bottom yet due to the incredible day to day volatility. Look at the VIX moving averages using daily, weekly close data...not so good.
When earnings and revised annual revenue are made at the end of Q1, it could go either way depending on whether you believe that the market is 99% efficient.
Like @Bigfatcock, I am looking at a variety of transportation stocks due to the incredible bashing they have received. When things emerge, theses should regain their past standing
