Hey guys!

Looking at a Rem 700 SPS Tactical and really thinking about the one with the Hogue Ghillie Green Stock 16.5" threaded barrel. This version is only $20 more than the non-threaded 20" version. The quesion is, am I going to notice much difference with the shorter version (as far as a big loss in velocity, acuracy, etc.)?

I am using this for hole punching out to around 600 yards and in. I already have a 308 that I use in F Class comps to 1000. The 223 will just be a closer range/practice rifle and one that I am looking to build up over time.

Thanks for any input you have on the shorter version.

If your only objective is to shoot paper then I would stay with the 20" and if you want it threaded then just visit your smith. You won't lose any accuracy with a shorter barrel, but if its just a range gun then the extra velocity would be a benefit

As of right now I do not have a suppressor, but, it is something I have always thought about, so, I may in the near future. It would be nice to have it already threaded if needed. I don't want to loose a whole lot of velocity though.
