Taking my M40 ‘Tribute’ Rifle parts to a local gunsmith tomorrow.
Been collecting parts for a year but smith was filled up last year, so we will meet tomorrow.
He works for a manufacturer that makes competition shotguns but he does part time work on the side and the manufacturer will do jobs for me such as engraving a Colt 1911 38 Super in carbon steel to match one of my shotguns.
Since the manufacturer is local, if you have problem with one of their shotgun, just drive up and they most times willl fix while you wait!
A few years ago Colt must have been clearing inventpry because these 38 Supers turned up in the ‘white’. I purchased one Carbon Steel and one in Stainless Steel. The Stainless one is waiting for a 1911 smith to start taking orders again. Probably never but I dream!s
The parts are a rifled action from PTG. I know there is controversy over the accuracy of the actions that PTG produces but this one looks OK for my requirements. I purchased it about 2 years ago.
Trigger I acquired somewhere.
Bottom metal will probably be this Rem set in stainless steel from the Custom Shop. Drops right in, The Badger would require major fitting.
Butt could easily be the Rem plate which has the required curve but I purchased a small Pachymar 0.4” that is the correct size but the stock butt profile would need to be changed. I also believe I would need to cut 0.4” off the butt to get a 13.5” LOP.
I know pmclaine put the Pachymar on his rifle.
Front pic rail could be either of two pictured. pmclaine used the smaller.
I don’t particularly care for swivels hanging from a rifle with or without a sling attached so Want to install GrovTec detachable swivel bases for these brown swivels to match the Carlos Hathcock sling I purchased.
The gunsmith will not do a linseed finish but has an idea. He has done two shotgun stocks for me from Exhibition blanks that will knock your eyes out.
Not pictured is a Badger repro Redfield mount and ring set and a HI-LUX green Redfield scope.
Any comments or suggestion, feel free to Post.
Thanks for all the help from this Forum and pmclaine in particular.!!!
