Suppressors Remington 870 magnum vs police magnum

Can anyone tell me the difference between a 870 police and standard magnum in a 870 ?

I've been trying to figure it out and my googlefu is not up the task. I can;t even find the police magnum on remington's webpage.

Minus sights, I was wondering is there a difference in the action itself ?

I was on Nighthawk Custom webpage and say it as an upgrade to their shotgun offering package

Assuming the non-police magnum is the express version here's a pretty good list of the differences between the "express" and police versions. It's a bit dated so some things may have changed, but basically the Police version has more metal parts, and gets extra care in assembly and testing.

If you get a chance to compare the two side by side the action and cycling of the police is smoother, less sharp edges/burrs etc, and you can tell just a bit more love went into the gun as a whole, but it's quite a bit more expensive, and a couple part changes and going in and smoothing some of those parts out on the express you basically end up with the same thing.

Not that the express is a bad gun there's TONS of them out there and they all do fine, the police is just a little more durable and worked over a bit more.

In addition if you are looking at getting one built by NH then they say they go through and hand hone all parts and smooth things up, and no doubt do the inspection so that really would reduce the differences aside for the plastic/metal trigger guard, and perhaps a couple springs.

ToddM is right on the money.


The only thing I will add is that the Police ones have a different finish, more of a parkarizing vs ??? an anodizing? on the NON L.E. version.

If you look on Bunbroker and or gun shows, you may find an L.E. one instead of paying the $$$ for a new one.

the police magnum has a metal trigger guard the 870 magnum is plastic,the police model has different springs in the trigger group and is alot easier to add a exstenion tube to if it doesnt already have one installed
