Remington CSR chassis

Just finished reading an article about the CSR and was wondering if there will ever be a civilian model available. Maybe even sub $1000. Looks like a great idea for long range hunting in Alaska or Colorado. I dream of hunting big game in these places but would need to pack the rifle in and out for several miles. Any ideas?

Oh and what will happen to all the M24's that are being replaced?

One thing I hate about Remington, but yet AI manages to make their SOCOM contestant rifle available to the public....

NO, AFAIK, Remington wont sell the MSR or CSR to the public. Or the 2010. If you want a sweet factory rifle(thats actually probably better than the Remmys anyway) go for the AI Covert or AIAT.

Agreed. The AI is a superior rifle anyway.

You couldn't build an actual MSR but the Cadex Dual Strike chassis is pretty similar to what's used on the MSR & 2010. Just build yourself a sweet hunting rig in that chassis.

Yeah nice but still way more $$$$$$ than I have.

The MSR sounds like a cool rifle too, 3-lug bolt with AR-15 like barrel extension/ability to change barrels easily but sadly Remington wants to take the high and mighty route of mil/LE only.

Well...your short wait is over. They are here in civilian hands...and it is indeed less than $1k...ten easy payments of less than $1k. They are amazing, though, and I would argue this perhaps out classes AI for its intended use.
