My understanding is they're keeping the Remington branding. Vista also got some of the IP from the Remington sale, but I have yet to see/hear anything on what exactly they got out of it.

Vista didn't buy out the firearms part, that was a completely different company. From what I have seen in the news, that holding company was specifically set up to buy out the firearms business. Vista only got the ammo plant and the unspecified intellectual property.

I really hope they went through the production line and fixed all the tooling that was making shit guns. I have an 870 super mag that won’t hardly extract or eject shells

97% I can guess the issue without even looking at the gun. The slot on the bolt is not cut correctly. It causes the extractor to hang up on the bolt. Usually it is above the extractor that is the issue. You have to file the slot to where it is flat on both sides so the extractor doesn't rub on it. While you are at it replace the extractor with a non-MIM extractor and it should cycle just fine. I've fixed 4-5 new 870s that wouldn't extract worth a damn. I'm not a gunsmith but I am semi-pro at fixing 870s and Mossbergs. Don't be afraid to file on the bolt, it doesn't work anyways. Put a little bluing on the are you filed and it will even look good. If you need any more info just hit me up.

The 700 is an icon... I hope they improve upon what Freedom Poop did to Remington and caused them to go bankrupt... I hope they bring back the 5R Milspec lineup, and add some more chamberings with modern twist rates, to the lineup. I'd LOVE to see a 5R with a 16.5"-20" 1:8 twist barrel chambered in 6.5 Grendel. And a 16.5" threaded 5R 1:8 twist .300 Blackout. That would be awesome!

I’ve been seeing Sig branded ammo show up that isn’t a set defense load. They had Sig branded 9mm 115gn fmj at scheels when I was there yesterday

Ahhh, I was not aware of this. Thanks for the correction. Savage was shit before Vista owned them...I sold Savages at the gun store back in the early 2000's. We sent back more Savage 10/110 rifles than anything else. Bad chambers, bad barrels, bolt problems, etc... Then Vista managed to bring them out of the toilet, and made them a decent company. I hope they do the same for Remington.

They have a huge plant here in Alabama... They should have just added-on, and bought brand new cutting-edge equipment for it. And then sold off the Illion, NY plant and that old outdated equipment to another fledgling gunmaker to use their own name. Just my personal opinion.

I haven't seen much on the AAC side of things, so I have no idea how deep that went. It could have been name and IP only, or all the way down to equipment, spares, facilities, etc.

Vista got the deal of a century. They paid something like $80M for remington's ammo division, and word from folks I knew inside remington said the ammo division had $4 BILLION in backorders. Don't write and article and quote me on that, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if it were actually more than that now.

Hornady supposedly has 2 years of production orders now.

I have been seeing primers starting to pop up here and there though, not a ton though. They get bought in seconds after the inventory hits the sites. Powder too, I got 16lbs of H4350 last week, 8lbs of H335 too. there was some varget yesterday, but only 1lbs jugs, limit 2.

I never bought any AAC cans...Although I was going to years ago. Glad I didn't now. A buddy of mine has a few, but he doesn't shoot enough to ever really have an issue. I swear, I think he bought them "just because". Hey, more power to you... I think everyone should own at least 3...Rimfire, Pistol, and rifle. I've got several cans sitting in NFA jail right now.

Glad to here this. I hope it is true. I month or two ago I tried calling their ph and the line was disconnected and sent an email and it bounced.

I have only two rounds of their .300Win VOT-TX LR 190gr my HMR loves. Have not seen a box of that for sale in months. I know I am going to wince when I see the price but man my HMR loves that round.

I was at an LGS yesterday, the only ammo on the shelves was 140gr Remington "Open Tip Match" in .260, and they had a lot of it. Of course, they did not indicate what bullet they are using, so I didn't buy it, but it appears to be factual.

Created the glorious 260 Remington and failed with it.

It's the standard only and exclusively only because it's the most numerous. It makes perfect sense to design your aftermarket product to fit the largest customer base.

There is little to recommend the Model 700 action's design from a technical point of view except from the point of view of low cost manufacturing.

A Howa 1500 or push feed Winchester Model 70 is a superior design when it comes to interfacing with a stock and with a barrel.

Manners and AG Composites won't inlet their stocks for them, the only AICS compatible bottom metal I've seen are PTG (and we know how that goes). Been debating buying a Woox vs having LRI custom inlet ($$) a Manners EH1 and either LRI or SAC true the action. It's odd to wish my dad had bought 700s instead. Crappier initial quality but so many options for making them better.

I have an MCS-T inletted by Manners for a 1500 SA. Do they no longer inlet for any Howa or just not for the long actions?

The aftermarket world for the 1500 short actions is a bit better than for the long ones.

No doubt. You'd think given the overt, hard lurch to Communism via NY's 'elected' officials, that was a high-priority topic by Roundhill's investors and management teams. It's probably not easy (definitely not cheap) to move that kind of manufacturing equipment, but given the open attack on NRA by NY's AG's and NRA's move to TX? It got their attention, I'm sure...the writing is on the wall.

With the current run on guns and ammo it is NOT a good time to be shutting down and moving a factory. They are smart to start production and get in on the run. Then when things calm down and a glut forms it would be the time to move.

Plus if the Dems go after guns as hard as they want to, the factory might just limp along at its present location until the end. As why spend lots of money to buy new machinery and a new facility when you are starring at being legislated out of existence.

I have been watching this closely as I have owned Remington 700's and 870's most of my life. The Roundhill Group is the one who bought the Firearms manufacturing plant in Illion NY. The have gotten a Federal Firearms Manufacturers License and reports are the the Engineers and Plant Maintenance Staff are going back to work in Mid-February. What I have read is that they are hoping to start production in early March. Like others have said...I hope they address some of the ridiculous quality issues and focus on quality guns...not cheap firearms like objects to be sold in big box stores. In the past a Remington 700 was premium product. Having owned varmint specials back in the walnut black forend cap days....they were rifles you were proud to own. In more recent days...the rifles action and barrels were decent, but things like stock and triggers were garbage.
