Well now that a massive amount of American workers have been sitting around and not getting their paycheck and all this stuff is coming due. What is going to happen?
Many people live check to check and have just gotten their first unemployment check of $200 or so.
Buy groceries? Pay rent? Car Payment? $200 is not going to make it. What's the landlord going to do when he realies on rent from several units to make his living. He still may have a mortgage on the property plus insurance, taxes and maintenance.
This is going to be a massive shit storm.

Many property owners are not going to be able to do that.
One story I heard said that the bank told them that they had 3 months. Then they were going to have to pay for the 4 months. I am guessing that they are waiting for the unemployment payment increase and the stimulus check to kick in so people will have money to pay.

Banks definitely don't want your house. People should be at the bank making a deal to pay interest and adding the principle to the end of the note.

It is gonna be rough for many. My wife and I have worked hard pretty much our whole adult lives in preparation that something is always bound to happen. Ive been called paranoid, but we live within our means and I don't see that as paranoid...

As much as I would like to have a lot of things, I've put it into my property, home and being able to sustain us. Whether it be something like this Covid pandemic, health problem, etc. Hell I'm only 36 years old and I've already got a hole in my leg the size of a beer can from having a massive carcinoma removed. The shit got into my lymph nodes and I'll always have it. I can still work and fuck it I'm not stopping til I drop.

I feel like people get to feeling invincible, feeling like they can always put off what they "need" to do today so they can have what they "want" instead. Life will always swoop in and put you in your place. The bill always comes due. Maybe I've had my ass kicked a little more than the average Joe? I still feel like the most blessed person. I'm grateful for life kicking my ass back then as it's saving my ass now.

I own the houses. Bought them in cash during the middle of the housing meltdown with all the money I made buying depressed stocks during the 2008 crash. They are in nice neighborhoods with good schools. My rent for the homes is already 20% less than the average, which pisses of the rest of the rental property owners in the area because it causes them to charge less to be competitive.

While others have had homes without renters for months at a time over the years due to asking max rent, mine have been occupied the entire time. In my book, any money is better than no money. Just saying.

If they waive one months rent later on, I'd be cool with it considering I temporarily lost a source of income because of all this but we still intend to pay all our bills on time, and have the means to do so with out worrying for now. Right now since I have the time and still have the means to support us, even with the loss of income, my priority is to take care of mine and the lady's family, and others close that could benefit from the help. If the need arises, then I take on a few more odd jobs or a new career for the time being, get rid of a few things, and we make some more small sacrifices. We're not going to stand by and idle and hope someone comes to bail us out, like I'm sure most people are already expecting.

I learned a very hard lesson at 19. I was in the Air Force and I lived outside of my means. I ended up having to sell my car, my stereo, albums and tools to get out of trouble. I did not have a safety net to help me, mostly because I was too ashamed to ask, but because it just wasn’t an option. At 18 you are a man, you are on your own. I never allowed myself to get in that position again. When I got married, we budgeted on one paycheck. We didn’t have new cars, but they ran. We lived in a mobile home that we bought. I couldn’t afford to get into guns and so many other things. We did without. We prioritized “wants” vs. “needs”. We didn’t suffer. We also started building our safety net.

This “bailout” shit lets too many off the hook. No lessons will be learned because it will be expected that the Government will bail them out the next time. Hard lessons teach us. There will be some “yeah but …” cases but as harsh as this sounds, most people were irresponsible, and they should be forced to learn the hard lesson. Of course, I haven’t heard of any celebs or politicians that want to give everything away to illegals step up and offer to give their fortunes over to help others.

I made my initial fortune by buying and renovating condo's in Boulder, CO while going to Grad school on the Army dime while still on active duty. I would buy the cheapest piece of crap condo in the MLS, renovate it, rent it, and use the rent to pay the mortgages. I used home equity loans to finance the purchase down payment for the next new condo, This was like a giant Ponzi scheme, but I was the only one playing. Forgiving mortgage payments is nice if you own the property outright and don't really need the rent. Hard working people, like myself, are going to get screwed left and right as we have to either rob our savings to meet our mortgage payments or have our properties foreclosed on, destroying our credit for the rest of our lives, and having to declare personal bankruptcy. I saw on CNN someone bitching that they couldn't pay their rent and their landlord told them they should move out. Their response was they're not moving and they're not paying. In a lot of places the courts will probably side with them. I paid off all the mortgages as quickly as possible, sold all my properties at outrageous prices to Californians flocking to Colorado, and fled Colorado to my totally paid for ranch in Texas. You can be damn sure all these whiners have the latest smart phone and laptop and the furthest thing from their mind is giving these up to pay their bills.
