Rimfire Rifle Photos Thread

Just picked up this like new CZ 455 from a member here. Added the Athlon Midas Tac in Seekins rings and the Harris bipod. Excited to start shooting this thing! I have had a .22 in years, and none this nice. Maybe a Vudoo one day.

Born in 1914 and still in production today says a lot. I was very happy to score it on GB. It has a few surface scratches but I think it's virtually unused.

My Dad had one of those old Browning's as a survival rifle when he flew over Vietnam, had a special leather scabbard made up for it, it's mine now.
Yep, neat old take down!
Your father was a smart man, it very well could be the ultimate survival rifle. Funny story my uncle let me shoot one as a kid and it started to bump fire on me in till he ripped it out of my hands, lol. Yes they are very fast shooting indeed.

Really fell for the appearance of the new CZ457 American first time I saw a photo of one. Never owned one of their 22RFs until getting this American. Accuracy isn't what I'd hoped for, even after re-cutting the muzzle crown. May re-barrel it if a bedding job doesn't help enough to suit. The Varmint MTR is what I was really after, but it took a couple of months to snag one. The stock on mine isn't nearly as beautiful as several that I've seen posted online, but I'm not disappointed with it either. I had no problem adjusting their new triggers down to 1.1lbs on the American, and just under 1lb on the MTR. The MTR shoots about as well as I could've hoped for - the two 10-shot groups on the steel IPSC target were fired from 210yds - upper on with SK LR Match, lower with Lapua Center-X. They measured just over 3" top, and 2.5" lower. That's not much bigger than the best I've done with custom-bbl'd 40Xs or V-22s... Would like to hear from other MTR owners to compare LR accuracy.

just awsome, all thumbs up. Show your range result with it please

Thanks, here’s a few. Still figuring out which ammo it likes but so far it’s shot everything pretty well. First target I pulled the last shot, knew I had a good group going and ? 1st target was federal hv match, 2nd & 3rd Lapua Midas

My 22 benchrest rifle. I shoot the william buck memorial postal league, and central indiana high power rifle shooters rimfire f class postal league with it.

Hall rblp action, shilen barrel, shilen trigger, harrell tuner, McMillan stock, waiting on 24 moa bkl base rings combo, and a weaver t36. Currently has bkl rings and a mueller 40x56 target dot scope that has major paralax to focus issue. Preparing to send it in for service. This rifle was built by Ed Shilen for his wife Charlene who shot it in comp up into her 80s. It is a shooter.

Also have a savage mark ii in bedded in a richards microfit 3" forearm stock, athlon argos btr 8-34×56 glass, and "accurizing package" by scott null of savagegunsmithing.com. I'm not real please with the accuracy it has.

Blue rifle is hall, red and blue is savage.

Which tuner is that? Has made a noticeable improvement?
Harrel’s. It was a bench rifle and was able to win some comps, so I would say it helped. I haven’t been able to bring myself to remove it yet, even though I am moving it away from the bench. It is still a great shooter and will be fine without it, but you need ever it you can get on the bench.

Custom Remington 581, Remschutz

This rifle went thru some changes...first went to Carolina Precision Rifle in South Carolina...they cut and threaded the factory pencil barrel, added the second action screw, pillar and glass bedded it, modified a Timney 788 trigger, D&T, installed sling swivels and painted the factory stock.
When a friend had his Annie 1712 fitted with a Lilja barrel, by Evelio McDonald I sent the 581 to him. He turned the 1712 barrel and glued it in. Blasted the receiver and left it in the white. He also blasted and polished the bolt, and added a thin soft recoil pad to the stock. He noted the D&T holes were off, and suggested that I just use the dovetail.
Current scope is a Leupold VX2 6-18x with a dot reticle w/tapered crosshairs and target elevation knob.
Gun shoots very well. Unfortunately I need the trigger looked at, as the bolt stop needed trimming to work with the 581, and now the bolt will bypass it when worked smartly. Other then that, I love it

Remington 504.
This started as a standard sporter I bought from a friend. I had originally sent it to Stockade Gun works as they inletted their stocks for the 504. Long story short..that got shelved. What they did do is
Correct poor extraction
Re-profile the Lilja barrel
pillar and glass bed the stock
paint the factory laminated varmint stock.
Scope is a Sightron SIII 6-24x

question for you:
second pic
what is on the forend, is that a spare magazine holder??
Yes, it is. It is actually made for a Biathlon model. I saw it on Ebay and took a chance on it. I had to use a piece of C channel and a steel plate to make a back plate for support. It holds the mags really well. It's held on by two bolts and no modification was needed to the chassis. See photos.

Really couldn't have asked for a better fit. The mags hug the rail and still have enough clearance between the scope to handle the mags.

I really like being able to keep my spare mags with the guns that use them. Here are others I come up with.

Does Evelio McDonald work at Carolina Precision Rifle?
