I'm in the process of building a load for my 6 dasher and fairly new to reloading. It seems as if rl-15 and varget are the more popular powders for this caliber. I recently had a 6 dasher built with a bartlien 26in MTU 1-7.5 twist shooting 105gn hybrids. Like I stated I'm new to reloading and looking for as much knowledge as I can gain!

Rl 15.
32.9 gn.
2954 avg speed.
Sd- 3 Es- 7
*5shots

Rl 15
33.1 gn
2973 avg speed
Sd-4.8 Es-16
*14 shots

Thank you for the help anyone can give me!

I think RL15 and Varget seems to be the most versatile of any caliber. Could be it’s the least temp sensitive. I use both powders for the common military calibers, RL15>223, Varget>308.

They are a little under a 1/2 @ 100 so not great by any means. I'm not sure if groups will tighten up once I get a few more rounds and stop my cleaning process for barrel break in. Or should I switch powders and try a heavier bullet with that 7.5 twist.

No sir I haven't. I've seen a lot of guys using it. What are the advantages you are seeing vs the varget or rl-15? I had this rifle built to start trying to get into prs type shooting.

Looks like I'm buying some varget and 8208xbr to try! Have you guys seen a big difference in lot numbers on the way the powder performs? On the varget and 8208?

Varget is pretty much famous for lot to lot variations. Although some recent experimentation I have read points to evidence that suggests it might be the amount of moister in the powder, and that drying it can help with the lot to lot variation.

8208 meter better than Varget and RL15. I use all three.
