Just brought the stainless version but not too keen on the stock, does anyone know if the new receiver with rear tang will fit the Victory Company Titan stock? or will the rear tang have to be removed?

Rear tang will have to be removed. And the Victor tang will not work either as the attachment method is different.

Thank you, think that might be the road I head down. If this new style of receiver takes off Victor may hopefully produce an adapter similar to the Kidd one.

I picked one up recently, thought about building, but with the price hovering around $600 I decided to go ahead and pull the trigger on one. Though it would be a fun companion to my RPRF. Just one range session on it - it choked pretty bad on CCI SV, my go to bulk ammo choice for my RPRF - lots of FTL's and dented bullets - not sure if the norm of just needs some cycles on the action. Switched to CCI MiniMags and it ran pretty much trouble free.

I only put about 100 rds through it, will put 100 or two more next week and then maybe try SV's again, as I would like to be able to run my suppressor on it as well, but there's no point in screwing it on if I'm shooting minimags lol. Accuracy was acceptable for a break in sessions so to speak and the ammo used, but I'll likely run my typical gamut of SK, Lapua, and Eley rounds through it to see if something stands out assuming I get around the lead bullet feeding issue.

Hey guys, I'm new to sport but I'm all-in. After shooting PRS for 2 years, I wanted a 22LR match gun so I can shoot positionally more often at local ranges and private property. Yadayada...

I landed this gun for 700, could have done it for 650 on gunbroker but I decided to support a local shop.

I have tested tons of ammo.

Aquila supermax ( wont cycle)
Cci standard (FTE often, FTL sometimes as well)
Federal target (97% good cycle, pretty accurate)
Cci green tag ( very accurate, but sometimes wont cycle)
Lapua exact ( this stuff was insanely accurate, almost perfect, wont always cycle)

Aquila interceptor (sprayed like a shotgun)

I believe this chamber is a match chamber and not everything feeds nicely. Also ruger manual says not to shoot CCI stingers because they are loaded w longer COAL and not good for this match barrel...again more evidence of tighter chamber toletances???
I did learn that any 40 gr round at 1200fps or better has pretty good performance and will cycle pretty well. Lighter than 40 and/or faster than 1500fps...results go in wrong direction.

I do have CCI AR ammo in my radar, its my only copper plated bullet w velocity in the sweet spot of 1260. I shot 10 rounds and the gun really loved it, but 10 is all I packed so I couldnt shoot it more. It felt unusually smooth ...love at first site. Will try this stuff again for sure! Maybe that copper jacket is helping the feed???

I'm now trying to find a subsonic round that's going to cycle this gun correctly because they do shoot better as far as accuracy goes.

Oh man, if I can get 47 or 48 out of 50 Lapua Xacts to cycle ... this would be one hell of a rifle. I was stacking those on top of each other pretty good.

I like breaking in my actions with grease, but I grease way back towards the rear and with frequent cleaning, once the metal grit stops coming out of it I should be good to run it dry. Well, that's going to be my approach anyway. I did that w my PRS rifle and it worked out pretty good. If some expert rages I'm doing it wrong, I'm all ears.

You may be correct. Somewhere above someone else commented that this was a rifle for someone who wanted to buy not build. I replied that I preferred to build than to buy, but did not have the time to spend that way last fall when I bought this rifle. I am not a fanboi. There are many better rifles than this one. I'm just trying to document my experience for those who might be interested in buying one for themselves.

That said, I could not build this rifle for less than I paid for it. I got it for about $650 delivered to my local FFL. I could not start with an empty bench and build this gun for that. If I factor in the cost of my time, its not close. I'm not saying you couldn't do it; but I for sure could not.

Winchester (not-so) super-x would not chamber at all..... It’s not the bulk stuff, and can’t remember which trays I used, but I know I’ve used it in other rifles with no issues. I had two CCI standard velocity fail to fire (they worked on subsequent attempts) and one not quite chamber fully (bolt needed a nudge to close), but the groups were about the same as the Mini-Mags. The high velocity Mini-Mags fed, chambered and fired without a single hitch, and their accuracy seemed good. All the above was done on day one, with a Leupold Rifleman 3-9x40 that I had available. I ran several rounds, then pulled a bore snake through-I’m not a big barrel break-in nazi, but thought it deserved more care. It became clear on day one that the rifle was capable of more than the 150 yard parallax adjusted scope was going to give.
I considered stealing a VX2 4-12x40AO from my #1V, but decided to get the Rimfire scope w/BDC reticle instead. With it’s 60 yard parallax setting, I could definitely see improvement on target during day two work. I have a set of older Warne mounts on an M77mk2 target, and love their return to zero after being removed and replaced on the rifle. That is why I used a new set of them here. Below, RTZ labeled groups-return to zero after removal, allowed rifle to cool, and reinstalled scope and fired 10 round groups.
In addition to the fodder listed earlier, I also tried CCI Quiet suppressor rounds, and they failed to extract on three rounds..... Their group did not give reason to try any more. The Federal 45 grain subsonic Suppressor rounds functioned well with good groups, so if my desire to get a can comes true that is what I will start with.

So far, all things Federal seem like a go. I've done well w their match white and black box and competition, blue and black box.

Not Ret. E6, but I have a lot of rounds through mine now, and its pretty reliable. I cleaned and lubricated it new, and haven't had any change in performance or accuracy since, and so I haven't cleaned it again. I would estimate that I have 1000 plus rounds through it. I have absolutely no issues with CCI SV, Lapua Biathlon, Center-X, Midas +, SK Rifle match, and some Wolf (forget which). One friend had a failure to fire on one round of CCI SV. I think he blocked the bolt as it closed, and it didn't get all the way home. I had to pry the case out of the bore with a tool.

All sorts of issues with Winchester Super-X, too. That's two of us. Not sure what it means.

Maybe I should frame this post and send it to ruger w my rifle, :/

I was shooting Tenex. Conditions were pretty perfect. Shot the same lot yesterday in 25 degrees and groups were not as good. Time to switch to Polar Biathlon for the winter.

This is likely what I need to do, as mine choked on SK Match, same as CCI SV...dented bullets. But it's still relatively new, going to run some more CCI Mini Mag through it to work the action and get it broken in. Then I will try SK Standard Plus (not Match, not sure if that was issue) again.

Thanks! After running it through a few competitions, I really cannot stand the BX Trigger, especially after being behind some really good triggers.

I just upgraded to the KIDD single stage trigger and have it set to 1.5lbs. WOW this is AMAZING, and totally worth it.

I'm also not thrilled with the BX. I actually prefer the RPRimFire trigger, and it's not great either lol. After I get it good and broke in I'll look at some other options.

I also picked up a 10/22 TakeDown model at my home range's swap meet for a song, so have been playing with it as well. The OEM Takedown stock, while probably perfect for what a TD is marketed for, felt a bit small and too light, so I swapped it out for a Magpul Hunter TD stock and swapped out the oddly spaced add on rail for an EGW picatinny version. But otherwise not going to throw any money at it, it's just a fun plinker to have around .

So I've gone from owning but hardly ever shooting one 22 rifle - an S&W AR15-22, to having four (+ RPRimfire, 10/22 Comp and 10/22 Takedown - oh, and a GP100 22LR revolver as well) and hauling them all every range trip is seems. 22LR is just addictive for some reason. Even got my buddy hooked although he opted for a .17 Ruger Rimfire, and a 22Mag Savage SemiAuto rifle.

After I broke in the 10/22 Competition it no longer is shooting Eley well at all but is liking SK ammo. Kind of weird...

Very temperature dependent. That lot of Tenex was known consistent. Tested by a good benchrest shooter who sold it to me . I have a few hundred rounds. But the lube was much firmer yesterday. Will go back to Polar Biathlon for winter shooting.

It's funny to shoot. Smells like crayons...

I have a boyds at-one for a standard 10/22, non thumbhole. I was less than impressed with the way the stock felt especially around the grip and forend replacement pieces, sharp edges and doesnt line up very well.

Update

I'm done breaking in this action. Today I ran it clean and dry. It ran pretty good. I'm proud of it, to a point.

So far, cci green tag is great and anything rated 1200 fps seems very reliable as far as feeding,cycling. The cci green tag is, so far, the only really reliable ammo just below speed of sound. CCI quiet is also cycling great, but I did have couple fail to fire. Those are 45 grain and they seem very promising... I'm not done with that round. Will try shooting that one for groups soon.

CCI tactical was very reliable, and like I said earlier, anything 1200 cycles great. These rounds might make the cut once I test them for group size.



I have eley tenex and biathlon coming soon ...that should be interesting.

Well, I just ordered a KIDD makeover. $350 bucks for everyting (with holiday deals and free shipping), it was a no brainer.
I ordered the 1.5lb single stage drop-in trigger, guide rod with 3 different springs, and a new bolt (rather than changing all the parts)

If this doesn't make the gun shoot all types of ammo more reliably, I'll simply throw it in a lake and go back to my 6.5CM

The Kidd guide rod with 3 springs plus a kidd bolt was the best thing I ever did for reliability. Once I got the appropriate spring in it, it hasn’t had a FTE/FTF in well over 500 rounds. I clean it probably every 250, complete disassembly type of cleaning and put it back together “dry”. I spray rem oil on the bolt and in chamber and wipe it down and call it good and she runs like a top.

I think you’ll be happy when you do these last few upgrades.

How do you remove this to make room for cleaning?

it's simply a rubber plug that pops out. You still have to take the bolt group out. This simply allows you to clean from the breech end without separating the barrel from the action.

You can easily modify any 10/22 receiver in the same manner. Whether you use a specialized jig or not is between you and your mechanical abilities.
